JOb cut is not the solution
by abboral boral on Nov 23, 2008 10:45 AM  | Hide replies

Cutting jobs is not the solution for any company .You may be loosing lot of efficient people whome your company has given some expensive training and during your boom time again you wont get such people instead you may incurre more expense in futute .
1. Find out and identify non productive expenditure and closed them as early as possible
2. cut parks of the employee by 30% at present and slowly improve at the improvement of your company
3. Dont keep unneccessary higher post with high salary .You can do the same job by even with junior level excutive by paying less
4. Most important decission you can take that will be revolution in Banking or any other Industries by recalling retired expert people with less pay for giving a scope for starting a second innigs in their life .These retire people will be happy to remain at least for 5 years with out any training expenses .This can be done on 7:2 young vis a vis old basis. This system will work with out further training expenses as there are 2 experience people available for giving training to 7 younger people
4. Never create any panic in the system instead create a permanant fool proof system where the system itself can solve any cloud
5.Never allow to spend lavishly when your boom time comes again
6.Creating good system , is a continuous process and always try different methods for ultimate bottoming of a good system which will last for a while
I hope this suggestion can be taken care

Suggestions are good except item 4. It may look god at the outset but will eat into the employment field. There are millions of unemployed youths available in the country. We should not leave the system to get it solve problems by itself. Let the company's intellect work for improvements.

Ok about ur views about no 4 but we can reduce recruitment of retire expert by say 20:1 ; 20 fresh and 1 old basis .I hope this will work as this is the only way to reduce cost of expensive traing expence and more over older people cannnot be allowed to work more than say 5 years .Look at our political system ,leadership start at the age of 70 years and last till death .No political parties take rish of taking youth leaders to run the parties except I thing somewhat present congress party is trying

Indian salaries going down?
by sathian k on Nov 23, 2008 02:00 AM  | Hide replies

So finally indian high salaries going down, If jet does this , all companies will start doing the same with excuse of "instead of firing we are reducing salary".

Companies having Genuine profits will also reduce salary...

GDP is growing at 8%, inflation almost double digit but salary 20% down, imaging ur life style.

Govt should not let all companies reduce salary , those only in distress and cannot avoid should only be allowed with some govt body approval (something like SEBI for sensex/nitfy) otherwise it will be lawless country and those who were drawing 40k will be getting 30k (pre tax) paying the whole salary to EMIs...

We don't need to get panic about the salary cut. There will be a reduction in the cost of living, may be not to the same proportion but in wider perspective it is the need of the hour. Every one has to bear a pinch. Interest of the country is more important.

Cooperate

The employees of the airlines (All air lines) should think practically. It is the question of life and death. When someone is drowning any assistance will be welcomed. Let there be a consensus that when the airline comes out of the read the management can retract the decision of salary cuts. Let the employee's sense prevail. It is time for them to think loud to retain the airline 'live'.

In between why should the airline employ foreign pilots? Is it because sufficient candidates are not available here. Indian pilots and engineers can work for Rs 40000 -60000. They can look for Indian teams. This is one solution to cut down the employee cost.

They must give all cooperation to the management to keep the airline running.

HIS CASE IS DIFFERENT FROM KINGFISHER WHO JUST RUSHED INTO THE BUSINESS WITHOUT PROPER PLAN, FOR THE GLAMOUR. NO HARM IF KF GOES DOWN.

RATHER THAN RESCUING THE AIRLINE WITH PUBLIC FUNDS, IT IS SENSIBLE TO LET GOYAL DO IT HIMSELF.
