Stark reality!
by shiva on Nov 10, 2008 06:55 AM

The crux of the matter is our divisive policies. Aam aadmi is used as a tool by wily politicians to get elected ad naseum! They recyle the old & festering wounds for their ends. The nimble footed vote by their feet as they cannot make any dent. Yes, Obama proved that total focus will change the landscape & the young are colour blind!

Datta-Ray is aware of the situation that led millions of "indentutred labour" to flee to Gulf countries to keep body & soul together mainly from Kerala thirty years ago. Dyed in the wool communism resulted in the minority unionised to terrorise the employers. Their ultimate pay-masters were the shirtless aam aadmi who even walked miles to get treatment in govt hospitals to find the staff on lightning strike! An unforgettable incident of an emaciated person virtually chased away by an unionised thug at a bus station will remain itched in my memory & my coming up with the few rupees that I had to plead with him to accept!

Unless, our landscape of thinking changes, our nimble footed will get recognition in foreign lands but will always yearn to return home. Still some of the best choose to stay & weather the daily storm!

It is for us all to create opportunities. Even China with massive infrastructure & progress cannot prevent some to seek living outside. An inclusive approach like Obama "I will fight to get the support of those who did not vote for me" will unify us. Obama will protect US interests. Time we had an Obama!

Financial crisis

The blame lies with the people who chose to live beyond their means.
And greedy banks who want to make fast money by giving free Loans to anyone even who is not capable to return it.
Capitalism must be regulated to restrain greed and avarice.
Those who hate the FREE MARKET must want an UNFREE MARKET with politicians controlling everything, like in SOCIALISM or COMMUNISM or DICTATORSHIP.

Thank u Ms Sunanda
by chanakya setty on Nov 09, 2008 10:40 PM

The author is absolutely right!!. So we do not need a guy like Ratan Tata who makes cars for others!! He's just a car mechanic!!
We do not want to be a Ambani coz thier dad was selling cloths for others!!

So disgraceful was thier jobs, no one in India wants to be a Tata or an Ambani!!

Whats not, Laxmi Mittal bought steel plants around the world that were left to dogs in thier country and no one wanted..

Of course the author is so dignified and has pride running on head that she would not want her daughter to get married like the way Mr Mittal did..

No one wants to be an air hostess coz that involves serving food to ppl..thereby making them waiters..

Thank you for your article that opened my eyes Ms. Sunanda..I dont know where you live but dont ever try to get out of that place in to a filthy world called real India full of ppl with no self respect who work long hours to feed a family and indulge in things called living...

Out of touch from reality!
by Anurag Gupta on Nov 09, 2008 09:30 PM

The author is totally out of touch from reality. American jobs carry far more dignity, for the most part, than Indian jobs where employees are actually treated as servants and not colleagues.

It is important to make a go at globalization and accept our roles as employees, collaborators and entreprenurs. Let those psycos calls things whatever they feel fit such as "indentured servants". It is time to move beyond that.

Has the author even looked a the rise in the number of foreigners working in India? Are they indentured servants of India?
