I hear all this crap about indians should protect their jobs and how we should transform our current BPO jobs to R&D related jobs...
Think of it guys... does india with all this hype about IT ever produced a globally consumed IT product yet. we are just suckers who looking for some $$ thrown our way.
We call ourself to be smart and what not... have u ever thought about the fact that Korea is what it is today happened in just 20 years. They have great brands product which we indians work day and night to buy.
Think of LG, samsung, Kia, Hyndai etc.. we should be ashamed of ourself to debating about how american election is going to affect our lifestyle and jobs.
Grow-up ppl and create new jobs, new needs which the world wants and not find ways to find a new job.

Root reason for India not having products -
Necessity is the mother of invention. There has to be a local requirement of products for the people to be motivated to innovate.
Like in the US, half the population started using the Internet, lot of online content was created so a need arose for arranging information. There was good industry - university partnership, the brilliant minds from college got interested in arranging all the information, the environment supported risk taking and finance was provided and hence Google was 'invented'.
Being in India, a conscious persons thoughts are dominated by over population, corruption, poor public services, poverty, politics and divisions between people. Indian subcontinent has not reached a stage where products are really required to improve the living conditions. Other social/public issues need to be solved first
We need to come out of the chaos, control population, encourage primary education, end divisions, become rich in every sense of the word, provide a safety net for the citizens. Then we will have the appetite to take risks and innovate.
It is a good sign that IT industry will be axed by US. We have opportunity to introspect ourselves.
Please must understand that real strength of any country is manufacturing and technology. IT is educated labor, technically no different than the people working in Gulf doing petty jobs.
A country which is rich in technology, infrastructure and manufacturing is going to rule the next century.

A typical spit on food attitude. Not going to get u anywhere. No doubt we need manufacturing/infra but no reason to say that should be at the expense of IT.

Why a good sign ???? i cant understand why are people jealous with the IT industry ... Meanwhile i agree that we need to concentrate on technology and Manufacturing sectors , but that doesnt mean that we should cut down on IT !! IT is our strength , and we should strengthen it further and not discourage it !!
