Loan waiver for farmers
by Ashok Bhasin on Mar 28, 2008 06:07 PM

Farmers should be helped to the extent possible. Our is an agararian economy. World is facing food shortages. It is only farmer who can feed the ever increasing Indian population. There should be complete loan waiver to the small and marginal farmers. Those who returned loan should be rewarded. Govt can find money by drastically cutting down Ministers, MPs and bureacracy extravaganza.

R Balasubramanian
backbone of India
by R Balasubramanian on Mar 28, 2008 05:52 PM

agriculture is the backbone of any countries self-sufficiency. In spite of many advancements in all other major sectors, agriculture should be kept at the top slot and has to be improved for better and cost effective farming.

Regarding agriculture in India, the late Annadurai, CM of TN, I understand had said that, education is a botheration to our nation where our occupation is in cultivation by means of irrigation.
Nature has given us everything in bounty and it is for allof us to secure and use it judiciously keeping in mind of future generations.

Rahul is correct in his view on waiver of farmers loan by the FM which is foolish and short sightedness. Atleast the PM who was former FM should have advised PC prudently.
Inspite of the generocity if farmers keep committing suicide and face hardship who can be held responsible for the scenerio?

Waival
by Manali Thomas on Mar 28, 2008 05:43 PM

When some farmers religiously paid the amounts, those who even having money, waited for the waival to happen. Those who have paid is being penalised for being good person.

it is not fair to penalise regular payers. This is like making good people suffer and bad people being shielded. What kind of justice is this??

Rediff did not mention what Rahulji answered when the question was put to him.
