Until, now I was exulting in the fact that Indian companies were going multi-national and buying companies abroad...only now do I get to know that this was a way to take money out of India. I guess even I would do the same if I were in their shoes, given the circumstances in which they have to operate

The capital of Gujarat is Gandhinagar and not Ahmedabad as stated in the article.
Gujarat is one unique state in India which did not opt for the largest city to be the capital.

Vested interests stall all development

The Maharashtra govt, MSRDC in paticular, should learn from the bitter experience of Bandra-Worli Sea-link and carefully, yet swiftly, implement the Trans-harbour link. Parties who bid unreasonably low only out of a feeling of vendetta towards another party should be warned sternly.

All politically motivated opposition to new projects, such as that to the upcoming MSEZ where protests are being held despite attractive R&R packages to the displaced, should be dealt with an iron fist.

It remains to be seen whether our CM can fulfill his promise of a new airport in Navi Mumbai by 2012.

Commie rate of growth

What we saw post-1947 was Commie rate of growth. Now we are seeing Hindu rate of growth.

Con-gress and Commies can't hoodwink the people at every stage. Read Aleksander Solzhenitzyn to learn about the horrors of Communism.

It is Nehruvian-Stalinism that is keeping India from becoming a first rate nation. According to the contorted logic of commies, the fault is always with the honest, hard working, and non-violent people. The murderous naxalite becomes the "victim", ha!!

I don't see any of these Commie authors sparing even a word of sympathy for the countless policemen killed by naxals, or their wives and children. According to them, only terrorists have human rights!!

Since all the bright students in India enter science stream and go on to become engineers, IT professionals and medical doctors, there is nothing left for dumbasses like this author but to suck up to white man hoping for crumbs. Worse than a dog, at least the dog is faithful. These commie morons are the worst traitors.

All of you Rediff readers, please don't support Commies. Don't give any money to Commie "charities" like AID or Asha for Education. Warn all your friends too about these cancerous entities.

Pure communism like pure capitalism is disaster. India should take the best practices from both and follow them.

Progress will be gradual, but we'll see it coming.

I agree that there's still a lot of beauraucratic red tape that comes in the way of a lot of simple things that could improve the lives of a lot of indians. However post liberalisation, the change that has occured only has to be seen to be believed. What we couldn't imagine has happened and the technological, economical and educational gap between india and the west has reduced 5 times faster than what it would have in our old socialist regime. So although it will take time, the change is bound to occur and i am very optimistic about infrastructural development in india in the days to come.
