Boost village economy

Thinking is required how we can improve economic status of farmers. In most developed countries governments are providing subsidies to farmers. Why we can't do this in our country.Farmers must be provided with cheap credit and even without interest incase the crop fails. And apart from farming alternative source of income like dairy farming ,poultry, fishery, sericulture etc must be provided through cooperative.Besides agriculture small industries must be developed for cluster of villages to provide employment to villagers. This will stop migration to cities in case of drought. All these measures will boost village economy and living standards of villages and also a preferred place to live.

1.The farmers do not commit suicide because of 12.5% interest rate.
2.When a farmer commits suicide,it is because of crop failure because of natural causes/disease or prices crashing which is similar to crop failure.
3.The root-cause removal mandates that we must build safety nets for such cases and especially for the farmers who are small and marginal.
4.The Cooperatives are an excellent tool; but have fallen in the hands of politicians who use them as vote-gathering machines. The small and marginal farmers do not wield much influence on these Cooperatives.

PLEASE SCALE UP AGRICULTURE AND JOIN THE VALUE CHAIN OF RETAIL AND AGRO-COMMODITY

You are right dear Sanjay.I have seen Cooperatives in gujarat doing well for farmers like Unjha market yard and milk federations.Remember late rajiv told that govt allot rs,1 to projects and 16 paisa is reaching there. It is shame ful statement when they know the corruption govt sud strict to govern that the fund alloted for irrigation, reach at the project and nutral agencies to pass the bills not sarkari officer.govt knows corruption is there and unable to check it then govt sud resign otherwise farmers will suffer a lot,

Wine is a good choice
by Sun on Jan 16, 2008 10:33 AM

I think the MP's advice of making wine a easliy available drink can be a good alternative. Wine with is low alcohol content with atleast some good(as some doctors say)will also be a better alcoholic choice for those who want to drink regularly. Cheers!!! Wine lovers come together.
