Put our house in order

There are many, mostly from Tamil Nadu, still taking too much risk in working illegally in Malaysia. They have to be educated of the consequences. It is just not worth it, illegally disappearing and unable to leave, as one is whipped savagely if caught.

Some work in menial jobs like barbers and hardly make enough for themselves. It is ironical that they take these risks when there are openings for unskilled and semi skilled jobs at home and even if the wages are lower, overall one is better off taking everything into account.

It is difficult to be taken seriously when some of us are so desperate to take any risks. These bring forth comments like "Our Indians are better off than in your country, mind your business" comments from Malaysian side.

Depite 60 years of independence, we have a long way to go. Let us develop our infrastructure and have varied avenues for gainful employment so that we are not desperate to go to these countries. We have been blessed in terms of resources, but many will work prefer to work in oppressive countries, while will sit back and shake legs at home. When cornered, our leaders make emotional outbursts without taking reality into account. There should be education at all levels to protect us from being treated as slaves and desperados running away from poverty at home. They get the ill will of the locals also by working at lower wages illegally.

Let us take these types news to improve ourselves and learn the lessons.

This is a red flag for Malaysia's ecomony.

When the economy was expanding, the labor force from India filled-in and helped the severe manpower shortage. Looks like they are struggling big time and I think we India should limit our exposure on this country, if we have any.

Stop stealing others Jobs and create ..

jobs for yourselves and others. The Indians particularly South Indians are not innovative or entreprenerial. They just steal jobs from natives by working at lower salaries and under any conditions. This is causing lot of resentment everywhere like in Bombay , Gulf and now Malaysia. Southerners should learn from Gujaratis who set up business empires whereever they go.

Gujjus runs business with unfair and unethical terms. Not even one bania shop in US gives proper receipt. They employ illegal immigrants and never pay taxes.
Kenya's trouble started with Gujjus and that's the reason why they are targeted. The corruption caused by them accounts for 10% of total Kenya's GDP.

Boycott Malaysia-Part 1
by Atul Narayan on Jan 10, 2008 12:38 AM  | Hide replies

Guys, don't be blinded by half known information and make your opinions. Malaysia is a well developed and fairly rich country. Its muslim majority with considerable numbers of Hindus, Christian, Budhists and Taoists (Chinese religions). The main problem is that majority of the benefits go to the Bumi Putera (Muslim Malays) under the constitution, followed by good priviledges for other muslims (non Malay). Other races and infact the other religions live like second grade citizens. I have been a frequent visitor to Malaysia and keep watch on the daily news coming from Malaysia. They are increasingly becoming intolerant to Hindus living there. Hindu temples are being destroyed systematically (on cooked-up legal grounds), community is being tried to be assimilated into islam (by giving them benefits if they convert), non-muslim families of the muslim converts have been denied rights over the property of the coverts (even after death)...all cases between non-muslims and muslims (including recent coverts) are being referred to Shariat Courts despite objections and protest. There is not one but many reasons for Indians in Malaysia to angrily protest against the religiously blinded Governments and Malay muslims there.

Tourism constitutes major component of Malaysia's source of income other than oil & gas, rubber, tea, service industry etc..... (Continued)

It is orphan in SE Asia. It Natural resources are little and mainly depend on Tea and Rubber. The other main income is Tourism. It is an International tourist spot. Why this Indian Government is bothered nobody knows. It can be treated as second citizen for the world.
We can even crush or take control of the whole nation.
Just Ignore the whole malaysia unless the issues are more damaging the human rights

Bullshit, Bhawgat Singh..
Just like another bunch of Indians from India, you are talking without facts..

Malaysia is rich in petroleum, palm oil, and services sectors is in advance at least 30 years that of any part of India..
Tourism, Tea, and Rubber as you mentioned above are our added values..

Clean the mess of your country first before talking about Malaysia..

Have you asked any Australian, Singaporean, Japanese, or even Thai people of comments for their visiting in India?? Most places still very great rembrance of colonial times and slow progress..
