Which insurance product?

You are not saying anything new or you? This is known to majority of your readers (if not all).
Term assurance is for persons who wants to cover the "Risk of Dying Early" and not for persons who wants to cover risk of "Living Long". and it is a fact that with the better medical facilities etc available - average age of the person has increased. So Term Assurance will not serve the purpose of such persons unless they have other means of saving in place.

Philosophical thought on buying Insurance
by RajneeshChandraMohan Jain on Jan 03, 2008 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

When you are buying Insurance you are betting that you would die.

Your Insurance company is betting that you won't die.

Basically buying Insurance is a pessimistic approach.

Sir,
Keep your opinion with you and donot insure your life and also donot take mediclaim and/or personal accident policy.

In first case, your dear one will curse you ( you will not be bothered as you wont be there) in second case, again your dearones will curse you, as they have to bear the cost. Wish you long and healthy life.

Now a days various varients of mediclaimor health insurance policies are available in the market. These are issued by PSU, Pvt General Insurance Cos., Stand alone health insurers ( Star Health and..) and also Life Insurers ( LIC is going to launch a medical insurance by mid of Feb.).
You can also cover the excess of medical expenses at a very nominal premium( you bear the expenses upto Rs.3 lacs and above that -upto Total expenses of Rs.10 lacs are borne by insurance co.)

Please pick your choice as per your needs after going through the various pdts and choose the one (or more) which suits you most. Please note that older you are, more difficult it will be to get the insurance and if you are already suffering from any disease, many insurers will be inclined to decline your insurance.

Paying less than 3 years usually makes all policies void. Try to pay for another year and then check other options.

This is not the case there are LIC's ulips in which you can take for higher returns and after three years if you discontinue, you ll get full of fund values that would not be equal to 30% but somewhere equal to the total premium paid

NO.
As per the norms, you can not take new policy for a certain period ( usually two years)from the date - any policy is discontinued. If any agent/insurane official suggest you to hide this fact by answring in negative to the pointed question, YOU WILL LOSE THE BENEFIT OF INSURANCE COVER IN AN UNFORTUNATE EVENT OF EARLY DEATH.

Please do not surrender or discontinue your policy. The policy that you bought 2 years back is already yielding profits and your age has also increased. It is best that you continue with your insurance.
However, if you want to look at options in the market, it is best that you buy another insurance policy using the guidelines mentioned in the article by Rajesh Relan.
