The present incumbant Dr.Arvind Virmani is suuper qualified and a reknowned Economist. He has worked under Nobel Laurietes and done his P.HD. from A world famous American University. The IAS bureaucrats feel Inferiority Complex when they face this stalwarts and that is why they resort to these red tapismm. My dear IAS fellows you are no longer the cream of the society as you think to be. The real INTELECTUALS do not join the IAS , they become teachers and Professors.

The IAS is the left overs of British Raj and should have been disbanded long back. Sorry honest cadres! They are impediments to development and at the same time enjoy all the British 'style' perks. Most of them are exploited by the politician bosses and unwittingly become part of the nexus of corruption. They do not want any other cadres to rule over them and they feel that they are the bosses instead of them considering themselves as servants of the society. The result is that no intelligent person is able to survive their writ in Govt circles!
It is a well known fact that Economists and the IAS bureacrats don't see eye to eye on issues where reporting to the Finance Minister is concerned. All the economists mentioned above are each famous in their fields.Whether it is Dr.Ashoke Lahiri, Dr.Patha Sarathi Shome, or Dr.Rakesh Mohan.
After 60 years of independence, still IAS lobby has superimacy over professionals. They are only administrators and Babus to Ministers, but dictacte with economists, financial experts.Though Govt. has otherwise IEC, IRS and IAAS also.As far as induction to these services are concerned, again academically they may not again professional to the cadre, but trained for Govt. purposes.
