IPL Will be a big Flop
by RAKESH DOGRA on Feb 09, 2008 10:15 AM  | Hide replies

We have seen how ICL failed so miserably.IPL will also meet the same result.Yes public in India is mad about cricket but only if contest is between Inda and any other country. These matches will be Masal Matches.Public may watch some initial matches but after that interest will die down.

I fully agree. If the contest is not between arch rivals, like India vs. Pakistan, or Australia vs. England, then there is no fun in watching such matches. They may look more like exhibition or fund raising matches.

stupids hev u ever watched game between liverpool, manchester united, arsenal and big club teams, how they r enjoyed all over the world and have fans following all over the world..
Like Cricket also has that potential whats wrong in tapping it..
u want always india pakistan, aussie newze english as rivals , just imagine sachin bret lee insame team fighting against jayasuriya afridi and sohib in other have some sense ... cricket is just another entertainment , and this format will bring lot more local heroes and gives enough oppurtunity to young lads..
for a country of billinon is 11 players enough..

support a sporting economy.. there is lot more in it
from GDP to hall of fame...

Wait and Judge.
Why have a premature conclusion.

USA has 1/4th of Indian population.
But USA offers its citizens 10 times more sports entertainment.

There isn't a single day in USA, without 3 or 4 title matches. (either Basketball, American Football or Baseball)

I think you misunderstood.
I meant USA as a country has only 1/4th of population of the India as country.

USA has population of 270 million.
Who is talking about Indians in particular?

For 270 million people Sports entertainment provided by the country is 10 times more than Indian sports entertainment in TV.

US provides more sports entertainment but that is various sports entertainment.
Already in India there are too much cricket matches and IPL will be much more. For first few years it will be attractive but then too much cricket will be boring.

India's current cricket entertainment is far far less than USA's basketball alone.
