"Our late Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare [Images] had mentioned that in the last two months, 90 per cent of the time and manpower of the agency had been spent on this case. All this has cost the nation heavily."

Ultimate responsibility rests with us
by Vijay Bharat on Dec 31, 2008 05:20 PM  | Hide replies

Friends, for all the finger pointing and angry responses, think deep enough and the ultimate responsibility rests with us. Do you want police reforms? Write, fax and call your CM and the PM demanding that what has been pending for 3 years should be implemented immediately. Want better candidates to vote for, demand better candidates from the parties and more importantly, VOTE. Armchair activism won't work. You cannot say you don't go near politics because it is dirty. It is dirty because you don't go near it. When everyone agrees with the author of the article, then instead of just reading it and writing a few lines in anger, do something positive.

Vijay, good suggestion. But people need a way to call /fax the CMs. if you have links/numbers publish them here. Public will swamp them with letters/faxes/calls. Some one shd take lead. I will try to find link/numbers in internet.

Whenever terror attack in our country we all will discuss for few months and our politicians will take the advantage and they will console us but they never take any action.
Why it so? This is the correct time to take action....

what India Inc can do?
by Vinod Shah on Dec 31, 2008 04:23 PM

Excellent suggestions. Now let us divide these suggestions into 2 parts .One Set ,that is to be actioned by the politicians/policy makers/ Govt. This we know , will either be forgotten or at best a liitle action taken at some point of time .Second set which I feel , can be immdtly acted upon , and we need not wait for any Govt action .
1) Leverage technology and processes

There are so many patiotic, and socially concious organizations like the Tatas, Infosys etc, who should immeditely set up a Special Group for this purpose .
2)Celebrate our heroes
Here again , let us not wait for Govt action.Remember, that many corporates had done this after the 1971 war. They had done a lot for the Heroes , and the families of the Martyrs.
Some of the big corp[orates shoukld set up a Combined trust , and mange the same , in which the General public can contribute , and the corporates also shoud earmark a corpus fund .This fund should be utilised to set up permanent institutions for the supoort and help of the families of the Martyrs for all such major terrorist instances, as well as war .Of course it will have a charter of operations, and rules for expending the funds .

I AM SURE THE BIG CORPORATES OF INDIA , CAN DEFINETELY START ON THE ABOVE TWO POINTS .

THE ORDINARY MAN IN INDIA IS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE ON THIS !!!

Gadhi Ji and Freedom
by kishore srivastava on Dec 31, 2008 03:54 PM  | Hide replies

We need to keep one thing in our mind.

15August is not the result of Gandhi mission of freedom.

We got freedom due to Second World War that’s it. Not by the Gandhi ji Non violence Philosophic dilemma.

Which is not effective in that time also.

They are not the illiterate indians who belive it. These are the well educated Indians some may be with post-gradutates/PHD etc.
The problem is they are brain eashed since childhood about Gandhi/Nehru philosphy.
Open any school history textbook and see you will know what I am talking about.

Why politicians were so vehemently hated?
by INDER WALI on Dec 31, 2008 03:44 PM  | Hide replies

That is why India is facing all this trouble even today. In 1971 we returned 93000 soldiers as a goodwill gesture. Well it was fine and human of course and as usual the thankless neighbor did not remember our kind gesture.

But regarding the land of Pakistan, which we had won through the sacrifice of blood and sweat of our soldiers, around 3500 sq. Kms. all along the western border, should not have been released to Pakistan for cheese...! We should have first asked Pakistan to release the land of "Eastern Kashmir”, illegally occupied by Pakistan in 1947, and made them agree for settlement of the Kashmir Dispute once for all. Had we traded and exchanged that land of Pakistan with our territory of Eastern Kashmir in 1971, THE MATTER of KASHMIR DISPUTE WOULD HAVE ENDED THERE AND THEN.

Basically the Kashmiris have an inert feeling of the LOSS of the land of Eastern Kashmir TO Pakistan in 1947.Come what may they want it back….!!! Similarly the people of Bengal feel the loss of the land of western Bengal to Pakistan…!

If Pakistan has managed to keep the land of Eastern Kashmir for more than 60 years with them without paying a single penny then who on earth could have stopped us from retaining that land which we had won justifiably in the war by defeating them…?

Again the same mistake was committed when we stopped the war with Pakistan during the Kargil conflict, at the LOC. There was no International law that could have stopped our army to stop the WAR,...(cONTD.)

initiated by the infiltrators of Pakistani army in Kargil, before winning back our own land of Eastern Kashmir, (which is illegally occupied by them) , from Pakistan. We should have allowed our Army and Air force to cross the LOC and stop only after crossing the International Border when Pakistan would have cried that it wont ever wage any kind of war against India if it wants to exist on this earth .

If Russia or China takes away a piece of the land of America, then will America allow any country on earth to do so and then allow it to keep the American territory for sixty long years?

We don’t know when the authorities in the corridors of power in Delhi, will understand the basics of International Diplomacy, dynamics of making efficient use of military might, the sentiments and sensitivities of the Kashmiris and Bengalis..!!

Common man is paying heavily, while India bleeds profusely, for the insensitivities and
blunders committed by our Politicians. The future generations of India will never forgive the present generation of the weak leaders for these blunders committed….!!!

The issue of cross-border terrorism emanating from within Pakistan's north-western territories gave President elect Barack Obama the opportunity to demonstrate "hawkish ness" and strength on national security and thus reduce its relevance as an election topic. Obama repeatedly proclaimed that as President,...(Contd.)

he would approve cross-border raids and attacks into Pakistan in order to destroy Al Qaeda.

Recently Israel has again shown India, the way to handle such matters (an ideal DEMO exercise for Indians only to learn), but we are unfortunate that we have spineless leaders at the helm of affairs who don’t understand even the fundamentals of Chankya Neeti and Gita Gyaan, nor do they want to learn from the Principles of International Diplomacy adopted by the USA, China and Israel.

How long will we allow our cream of warriors to lay down their lives on the streets of our country fighting the external enemies within our territory, because of the failure of Intelligence, failure of diplomacy, beaurucracy, Police, coast guard e.t.c…!! Instead they deserve to be a martyr, fighting bravely in field of WAR on International border for which they are trained and had left their home, near and dear ones..?

Countries become great only through the adoption of pragmatic ideologies and great jobs done by its leaders….!! Carrying out surgical operations against the biggest ever International liar, inside Pakistan is the need of the hour. They have always spoken blatant lie..! If we take steps only to root out the breeding grounds of TERROISM in the territory of Pakistan by taking meaningful Military Action in the right spirit only to teach our neighbors how to behave with their neighbors , the World will respect us…!

....(Contd.)

The economics of the war is also very simple. We have lost more than Rs.50, 000 Crores due to the recent strikes in Bombay. We have lost more than 2, 00,000 Crores in so many similar strikes carried by the ISI in Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Akshardham, Twice in Delhi, Meerut, U.P. and so on…! The pecuniary loss is besides the heavy loss incurred on account of the loss of thousands of innocent lives, during these attacks. The biggest loss has been suffered by the state of J&K in terms of Men, money and materials. One full fledged war may cost us around 15,000 to 20,000 Crores but it will help us solve the problem for eternity.

Israel doesn’t wait for America to come and fight on its behalf for their sovereignty…!
Nor do they ask anybody to appeal on their behalf….! They only believe in action …! That doesn’t mean they are inhuman or they don’t believe in God and Spirituality…!!!
That’s why they are a respected community all over the world….!!!
