Although is not much disruption m getting a net speed of only 256/35 Kpbs. This is somewhat slow considering it is a broadband connection which should peak up to 2 Mbps.

Mr. Antulay is supported by Mr. Digvijay Singh and couple of MPs from BSP. At the back-drop even Italian is supporting them. OPen secret ?
Such incidents show the vulnerablity and the ease with which the communication system could be sabotaged during critical times and then conveniently perhaps blame it on sharks!! Came across reports of chinese hackers frequently attacking Indian sites and now this perhaps brings security concerns to the forefront!
...in *acting* rather than just talking, we could start a petition like the anti-Pakistan and anti-corruption petition for guaranteed internet access. ISPs and cable operators must be tied to a minimum service level agreement which allows the customer to refuse payment for the days the internet connection was lost. But even internet dependent IT companies have no spine to show, nor do the ISP companies like MTNL, Tata Indicom have the courage to stand upto the local cable operators. I spent 2 months calling up people in Tata Indicom and answer I got from a highly placed officer was that Tata Indicom is helpless about their agreement with cable operators. As long as your local goonda rules over both you and your ISP, internet access in many parts of India will remain a dream. Sadly even the free software community of India has no spine to show in this matter. I have gone protesting and complaining, but one single non-politician can only trouble a few people. As long as the general user does not protest against internet delays, nothing is going to work well. I've done enough for one person's capacity and ability, now you people must start a petition if you have an interest in this matter. Best wishes!
