First learn to spell "losers" moron. Then you can talk about IIT and jealousy. I am sure by your theory people hate the US because they are jealous. What a one dimensional statement!

IITian are Indians too
by E Chaitanya on Dec 19, 2008 05:07 AM  | Hide replies

Give me a break. Just because you cannot make it to IIT does not mean that all those who did are bad. FYI, more non-IITians leave india every year than IITians. And ofcourse, we are indians first so we do love our country as you do. It is like saying that Tajmahal is ugly just because you cant afford to go there and have a look at it. Please try to understand. NO one is saying that non-iitians are inferior.

No one said IIT'ans are BAD, but they dont deserve for how the media and public is glorifying them. I agree its Indias best institution, but when comes to global level, they are no where in top 50. Like yout TAJ MAHAL example, i can tell 1000 examples and make your mouth shut. Dont get frustrated when u hear the truth dude..Grow up..

Stoping glorifying Indian institutes
by Rajaguru on Dec 19, 2008 04:50 AM

IITs and IIMs deserve credit, no doubt. But in the world stage, they have a long way to go. If IITians have made India proud, have not the non-IITians? Furthermore, these institutes receive constant interference by the central government that makes it more local than global, considering issues like the spat with AIIMS director and the Union Health minister. So its time the other institues also should be recognised.

Glory is a drunkard who lives nearby by who is rarely seen
by Praveen George on Dec 19, 2008 04:22 AM

Makes my remember of my neighbour , his name was glory , he was drunk most of the time, always used to travel and abuse his mom and sister for small mistakes, boasts constantly of how superior he is and how cultured his mind is, rarely seen at home, wife deserted him, constantly at work proving again and again he is the best, people all around the world said glory is a indeed a glorious man, but those who knew him closely used to say, loser !don't know how to run his own home, hasn't been much at home ! glory is indeed vainglorious ! . Not saying IITians are all vainglorious ,some of them has made us proud and i believe there as much non IITians who are making us proud in their own silent way.

Overrated, overhyped and overstated.
by Inspector Vijay on Dec 19, 2008 03:30 AM  | Hide replies

IIT is no doubt one of the premier institutes of this country. But have they done enough when you take into account their huge budget relative to other institutes (100-500 times), when you take into account they take away the supposed 'cream' of Indian intellect?
The answer to the above question is a resounding NO. IITians have done a lot for India, but they need to much more for India to repay the nation. Donating a few dollars after earning much more in US is hardly doing a favor to the nation which has spent considerable amount on their education, when there are poor people going hungry.
Most of social work, NGO-type organizations are run by Non-IITians. IITians are rarely seen in public service. IITs churn out 5000 engineers every year and there are at least 120,000 IITians (200,000 if you count graduate programs) who are out there, how many of them are actually doing anything useful besides making a living and boasting about their 'IITian' status?

Moreover very few IITians have actually achieved a lot in US. Most of them are just IT programmers doing jobs that Americans don't want to. IITians may be better than the average Vidyala Graduate, but they have yet to prove their worth to the society that has given them so much and asked for so little in return.

First of all I am NOT saying that IITian's have done enough...there is still lot of scope but arguing that they are not doing or Less in terms of other institution is not true.

As you said lot of NGO's are run by non-IITian's....So what you think nation can be build by running the NGO's I think setting up any industry or creating job is more important than running NGO. Charity is imporant but not the important. Agree People are hungry, poor but just donation will not help they need life long support that can only be done by giving them proper job. See public serice from another point of view not just from NGO's

Second point as you said Most of them are just IT programmers doing jobs that Americans don't want....anyway if they are not good what they will do in India just same thing they are not going to add any value so why worry about that..concept of Management 80%-20% everywhere works..for example if you want to improve efficiency of anything you need to concentrate of 20% of the task that will take care of 80% of the problem don't waste time in handling other 80%...Also don't compare the top 20% of the average Vidyala Graduate to rest 80% of the IIITian's..there are only 20% who will make the difference and they are doing it.

I would like to do a "sour grapes" ;-)

Just two words and a null pointer:
"The Chinese ..."

Today's your big day, IITians, enjoy, make merry and celebrate the true genius of the Indian intellect!
Undeniable, unargable, sometimes unfathomable, sometimes political too.

Looking forward to India's day,
Best wishes and Good Luck!!
