Lay offs.
by aga on Dec 16, 2008 10:36 AM

Govt. has recently increased salary of all employees by minimum 50% putting a heavy burden on tax payers. It is a shame, that in a country where more than 50% are living as low income group and 24% even below poverty line, Govt. has put them under Gods umbrella only. Govt. must at least retire all non performers after 15 years of service instead of carrying them upto 60 years.

Tina Silva...
Do not compare such fools with Indians...
They are not True Indians....
True Indians are those who are striving to make this country a better place....
YOu will find true indian everywhere if you yourself are a true indian.

yeah man that is really scary

The first thing we get to hear in the morning is how many of us got layed off. This trend has to stop. Keep hiring in bulk and layoff in bulk. No one has the guarantee that their job is going to stay. layoffs.in is launching soon with up to date layoff information. Atleast for now, please be nice to your boss.

by humanrightsvoice on Dec 15, 2008 08:32 PM  | Hide replies

Govt is stupid..INstead of adressing the job losses directly it cuts the rates only to make housing easier for rich and unaffordable for the poor. Why dont it create jobs directly?

This is India, if rich doesnot become richer and poor are thrown into the streets it cannot be calle INDIA. For e.g you see the filmstars, do they help people ? Why they want to enter politics ? Everything is theory not practicals. Big Posh people but useless. Everything for personal gain. They play the game of India in the name of India.

only few weeks back my friend attended telecon from Akamai. It seems there are also having layoff plans. Will their Indian unit get impacted in their 7% lay off scheme.CNET is collecting list of companies doing the layoff ...Some other portals are also doing the same.Lets compile the list of companies having massive layoffs so that we can blacklist them and avoid them in good periods.

companies should be blammed
by venu gopal on Dec 15, 2008 02:36 PM

it is not at all surprising to hear such a news as it is expected. But in my view, we must balme the companies for this, because they have employed professional's with high rate of pay for which they are not capable. Now these companies throwing employees out stating that they have to curtaile the costs.

Attitude matters .. If now working professionals .. then Students are there to come in PG..
I would add one more idea ..
seek for part/full time lectureship jobs at colleges or Pvt institutes..

Every problem if perceived properly , becomes an opportunity :)
