In this shrinking world only businesses with innovative technologies survive to make profit. Why do we have to reveal these research's to the world without understanding the financial implications and damage in the long run. To start with..Do we have any patents on this research work?. If not then I guess we have already lost a big money on day one....simple!

It is not just a matter of profit making. I feel this will help not only India, but even the other countries in helping detect frauds, terrorism, search etc. Your point also is a valid one.

Charity without returns doesn't work in real world. Dont be surprised when the same "IIT" guy will work in Intel,IBM and Apple Inc. later on the same technology.
Searching 35 kms range is bullshit. Most telecom operators have the technology to exactly triangulate the position if there are more than one cell towers in the area. If this technology helps to triangulate even with one tower like in villages then its an breakthrough.
