I was one of the privileged persons to work in BANK OF INDIA during the time when Mr.Vaghul was MD & Chairman of Bank of India.I still remember his beautifully worded CHAIRMAN's Messages which he used to send across the Branches from time to time for the benefit of all the staff members.I also remember his 'good bye' message which he sent around the time he was relieved from BOI.His messages were very inspiring & thought provoking. One more thing I remember is the publication of BOI's Balance Sheet on the 1st January itself,in a particular year under his leadership & his persistent insistence on clearing of all the old outstanding Reconciliation entries.Though these things look small,it helped me a lot in becoming a good banker in the long run. He had done one personal favour to me which he may not remember & aware of it now.One of the nationalised Banks had refused to vacate my flat in Mumbai.I thru,officer's Assn. approached him for a help. Though I did not meet him personally,he did talk to the MD of other Bank to resolve the issue. I never expected that I would get a chance to pay him my respect.Thanks to 'Rediff'for this opportunity.
