So what are the lessons here. 1. Become a coolie 2. Engage in illegal oil trades 3. Start gambling 4. Sell plastic flowers There are hundreds of thousands of people all over the world doing the above. 4 of these made it into billions, the others are still struggling! I don't get the "lessons".

exactly! I think that the point of the article is not to make people identify with those who already are rich. It is an inspirational write-up to tell people that we can all overcome hardships and get where we want to be.

There is still a lot of places for good people in this world. The creator of "Facebook" (Euorpion version of Orkut) are in Forbase list of top Billionoires.
A person can become richer only when he thinks and act differently. He need not go through illegal means.

I'd differ with Amit, you still can become rich. I've become a $ millionaire by sheer hard work and set my sights on $ 10 million in net worth now. And yes, our family was just a middle-class family some years ago.
These stories are indeed inspiring, motivating & anti-depressant.. Pls come out more of such stuff on a regular basis, elaborating more on the success mantra/principles of these world movers.

Good enthusiasm. Few days back I read stories on rediff itself how several billionoires turned into rags.So always read both type of stories keeping in mind that time moves both ways. Good

But any day, we should choose optimism over pessimism. Overt pessimism combined with lack of action has kept India as a developing country. Let's not doubt ourselves and commit to whatever we want to achieve.
Thanks for such an inspiring insight into the lives of such people. The story confirmed my long held belief that the super-rich are ones who truly understand the value of money and respect it best due to their adverse childhood days.
And yes, stories on our own Indian entreprenuers like Dhirubhai Ambani, Azim Premji and K.P.Singh would be welcome.
Learning about our own countrymen rise to prominence on the world stage would be more inspiring than learning the same about foreigners.

sometimes, beaureacracy and mediocrity requires people to use inappropriate methods. I am not supporting Ambani he did with the polyester industry in India but in the hindsight, his success has helped create one of the biggest MNCs from India. Corruption is in all countries, developed or developing and though it is bad, we are forced to live through it.
