ICL will die a natural death
by Jugal Sastry on Sep 28, 2007 09:23 AM

Though BCCI is most unprofessional, their muscle power combined with India's 2020 win, has spelled doom for ICL.

I do not think they can survive. There is more money and fame in official cricket than in ICL. With guys like Lalith Modi and IS Bindra, BCCI will be making more moolah. They literally can match whatever ICL is offering. They might also armtwist the sponsors too.

ICL honchos must wait and watch. If India loses against Austrailia and Pakistan, public anger on the current team and some of its cricketers will even affect BCCI.

That will be the right time to launch a tourney, unearth new talent, discover new heroes. ICL must wait and watch.

If India does well against Australia and Pakistan, then be assured that ICL is going to die a slow death.

At the end of the day, all ICL will have is a bunch of losers ( cricketers who have lost out with their own boards), and few under confident youngsters (who already have given up their hopes of playing for India).

Sharad Pawar must keep his fingers crossed and hope that India does well. If India does well, he can sleep tight.

Also he needs to reduce the number of maharashtrians at helm of affairs and within the team. It'll be a matter of time, when rest of the country will wake up to these facts.
