there should be a politcialwill to create a national housing policy and to form a national housing board which should provide cheap but good quality housing say 3 BHK (1200 sq feet) for 10-12 lakhs in mumbai delhi, chennai kolkatta which is possible and much cheaper in the smaller metros . but the problem is most of the builders are either politicians or the builders are funded by politician money and they do not want the real estate prices to come down . hence UPA never came out with a housing policy. The UPA wants the middle class/lower class to live in debt trap / EMI trap throughout thier life. The middle class / Lower class can only get some dud slogans at the time of elections. Congres ke hatth aam admi ke satth, in NDA rule aaam admi ko kya mila. Once the rogue congress is voted in power they bring in all the policies favoring the rich and power full SEZ( Grab land from the poor farmers and make them homeless , humilate them just like how it was done by the corrupt vilasrao deshmukh , tax incentives to builders (tell me which Builder sells residences at econmoical prices), tax incentives for dog food (Inclusive growth)

The other fact is Agencies of the Government Like CIDCO (Congress Governed Maharashtra)The modus operandi of CIDCO is Acquisition of land at nominal cost from Original Inhabitants without proper compensation and siphoning the property to Builders at exorbitant rates. Instead of practicing its objective for providing housing to the middle and lower class at reasonable rates it encourages price escalation for the benefit of few builders , politicians and Bureaucrats.

The only way the middle and lower class can get back on these corrupt politicains who eat away 2/3rd the housing loan EMI is to humilate them in the coming elections by making them even lose thier deposits . The ministers have enjoyed the best of everything for the last 5 years palatial bunglowss , servants at bheck and call, the best of vehiclces, hobnoobing with the rich powerfull and they just did not have the time to think about the middle class and lower class.

One need to remember that its not Administrative will but Political will which is going to solve Mumbai problems. Looking at forthcoming elections, such announcements can not fool voters. BUT AT LEAST THEY ARE DREAMING, ALTHOUGH ITS DAY-DREAMING.
