Why only cricket, we should encourage every other game
by sanjay kulkarni on Sep 27, 2007 01:17 PM  | Hide replies

Why only cricket is favoured in terms of monitory gains? We should make cricket as a equal sport like other sports are. There should be equal amount of money invested in every sport we(India)play. There should be equal amount for the players who show their performace in the international game events, whether its hockey, football, chess, kabbaddi or cricket. This is injustice with other games as well as other players.we have only 11 players to produce in the cricket team and complete nation is behind cricket as if there is no other game exist? If we continue supporting only cricket, then slowly other team players will give up their favourate game or they will play either from China or USA, where there is a value and respect for performance and performer...The present system including various game's board of control, advertisers, people who manage the control boards is totally worst. What had been seen in Mumbai is every political leader was trying to get highlighted as if only due to their support we had won the game.. shame on Sharad Pawar and company...Tomorrow there will be big cut outs in Pune (Sharad pawars district) for congratulating him for this win...(hopeless party mens, for monitory gains what else they can do)
It's we Indians to decide to whom we should encourage. We should encourage only those who bring name & fame in every sport to India. Support should be definitely in terms of monitory gains, for which almost every one is living(I may be wrong here)
Please encoura

yawn.. who is the "we" that is supposed to "support" other sports?. if you dont understand economics, its best to zip up.

people are interested in entertainment and not achieving any silly lofty goal of "furthering sports". if that were the case we would stop supporting team games which pass off as sports and start supporting athletics which is the true pinnacle of sporting achievement

cricket reward vs hockey reward
by indiman on Sep 27, 2007 04:59 AM  | Hide replies

Each cricket player after the T20 got 80 lakh. The whole hockey team after Asia cup win got 50000 altogether. Recently Joaqyuim Corvalho the hockey coach said that he would go on hunger strike to protest against this. Finally some state governments announced they would award hockey players. It is enough we stopped slaughtering other sports for this useless piece of shit called cricket. I want Jaoquim Corvalho to go on hunger strike by the way.

SHOAIB MALIK'S STATEMENT
by Mihirkanti Choudhury on Sep 26, 2007 10:49 PM

from Sylhet,Bangladesh -----
In the Twenty20 Final, everything was right except Shoaib Malik's remarks. He said 'sorry' to all the 'Muslims' around the World for not being able to give perfection to the JIHAD. (He must have thought about this paticular word). He had forgotten that the match was between India and Pakistan, not between religious communities - Hindus or Muslims. He did not even show the courtesy of congratulating the victorious team or in other words, his BROTHERS-IN- LAW (so far we know he got married with an Indian girl). On the other hand, Afridi's statement was very positive, of a player. Shoaib Malik's concept gives rise to the question -- Whether does this kind of statement equalise racist feelings for which South Africa had been banned from World Cricket for more than two decades? Can the ICC give a clarification on the issue?

fair weather friends
by Ashok and Anita on Sep 26, 2007 11:58 AM

success and adulation are fair weather friends
while the going is good there will be plenty of everything - team India great job but like the skipper said enjoy the celebration and keep your cool. Remember the next match we always build an innings starting from zero.
