Try Berlin for that Matter
by sunil sheriker on Oct 10, 2007 04:35 PM

Guys,
People living or having only visited London will always say that London traffic system is the best. This is like a fish being in a small pond.
I have been to London on many occasions, i don't say its worst but there other cities as well which are much better. I personally feel Berlin has the best transport system in Europe.
See by yourself, its a very big city but still the frequency of trains available and the connectivity routes it offers, its just well planned.

Not many will visit London if they hear experiences from others who have already visited. Most of the places in London are hyped, they are not great at all. Frankly we have greater places in India, in and around every town in India.

Visitors to London
by varun varun on Oct 10, 2007 03:23 PM

It says in the article that indians are 17 in rank when it comes to number of people visiting london. But one has to know that France and Germany and USA and other few countries dont need a visa to go there. A tourist visa for an Indian costs about 60pounds nearly today. There is a large number of Indians who still mite want to vist the place. So there should be relaxation in the issuance of visas but there should be strict checks as we know a lot of people try to illegally go to settle there from India. But yes London is a great place to visit. IF indians dont need a visa to visit london there would be definitely more than 100% of growth everyyear.

My best may not be same as your best.
London should be the best if you want local food and shops.

I believe any of the Scandinavian capitals would be nice to live and work in Europe. I personally prefer Oslo.

Next to perfect transport system???????? hellooooooooooo... last time I was in London in July, it twice happened that the train stopped midway on its journey at a station, the driver packed up and went home and there was an announcement "This train has been terminated here, kindly disembark from the train". Try doing that in Mumbai... wihout getting the train burnt by the enraged crowd.

Faults happen occassionaly, but the driver was there to apologise to the passengers and announce to everyone to get down and the next train would be just a few meters away or, they would definitely organise a bus atleast for the transport.
They won't just let u go and leave nowhere! If that happened u r eligible to have a compensation very soon!

But in India, the driver just tells the next carriage and jumps out of window and disappears, and the next thing is the rumours and the message is passed by fellow passengers in proportions!
And where is the alternative solution?
When is the next train?

heaven knows!
And if u go to the station master, either he is not there, or no proper response!

So, the crowd sets the train on fire, which was left by british anyway!

I'm not praising British, but blaming ur ignorance that by looting every politician, we can build a much nicer city and transport than London!

believe me, anywhere outside London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, its all crap...

worse than Chennai...

a recent worldwide survey has put london transport the best in world. and london has also been rated the tourist spot by WAYN.com (the international tourist site). I do agree that the transport system in not perfect, but it helps to be on the top of the list.
