Every car manufcaturer wants to out do the other by setting highre bars for churning out more wheels and bigger models. But whwre are the roads to drive them on, and what abt the environmental checks to control the emissions. There seems to something radically wrong in looking at just one side of the developments while everyone including the state collects their dues in terms of profits or cess /taxes be it the industrialists or the Governmnet in power.

Hi Harikrishna Srirangam Now I see why it costs so much in India? I am from the US and while I can buy a much better equipped Honda Civic for about 7 lakhs (Auto Trans.), it costs at least about Rs.10 lakhs in India. I wondered why. Where is all that tax going?
I had owned both the co's product. I find Maruti better in the A & B segment, but not in C. In the A & B segment Zen (new)& swift are much bettre than Santro & Getz.I find Ascent much better car than an esteem. Now Ascent is old. Hope both the companies bring in an easy to maintain car in the 3 lakh bracket.
Santro is nothing but a piece of Korean Junk. I started driving with a Daewoo Matiz, followed by Santro and now I drive the Wagon R. I have also driven Mariti's Xen and Alto and I find the Maruti variants far more superior to Matiz and Santro by a HUGE distance.
The Korean package the car at a price below the comparitive Maruti models with more features. The End-User thus, sometimes forget that the Engine is what truly matters... Maruti Suzuki with over 2 decades of Indian presence is the truly market leader

You better know that the products acceptance level by the people across the globe not just in India alone. It caries less importance weather it is Korean or Japan's but it is the level of perception of the people and their acceptance is more important. You definetly agree that the Santro is a big success across the world but not limited to India or Korea. But ofcourse Maruti Suzuki is a leader by vertue of only it's age in the country.
Sales alone will not help.Equal imporatnce should be given to After Sale Service.Santro is a good car but service pathetic.Authorised Service stations should be very closely monitored because Hyundai's customers being taken for a ride. Bought a new Hyundai Car?Be prepared for a BIG service bill after you have exhausted the free service.i am sure they will loot you. Hyundai has got a long way to go in terms of service back-up.

I agree... Santro maintenance is generally high. Even the accident jobs are far from satisfactory... They try to push the replacements rather than repair the damaged parts even when repair is possible. Like I had met with accident last month... They suggested to replace the front door and the fender... They almost replaced both of them without informing me. It's only when I fired them left, right and centre that they repaired and repainted the damaged parts. They are not bothered about the customers' pockets at all... With replacements, I'd have had to cough out at least 30% of the costs as my car is 5 years old. I was vigilant so I escaped spending through my nose. This is how the people at Hyundai service work! They also reccomend annual maintenance contract which needs you to get your car serviced every three months. What's the point in buying a Hyundai if its car is so trouble prone? That it needs service every three months? Greed is the issue!
I have driven the Santro (1.1L ZipPlus) ever since its launch and am fascinated by its response, .... a pleasure to drive. Yes, Hyundai could tweak something here and there to its existing model (Xing) to further enhance its technological lead over its rivals, making Santro a runaway bestseller in India's automotive history! Hyundai will then not only make its existing Santro owners the proudest of the lot, but will also pre-empt them from feeling defeated if Hyundai plans to phase Santro out.

Santro is the best citi car, and this super frog, who looks down everything Indian, is I am sure, took his initial education in India. A frog who jumped bit longer.

I am an NRI and I own both suzuki and hyundai right now. Both have plus and minus. However hyundai is much ahead of suzuki in world's automobile market. It stands six largest in the world and other 5 are, toyota, gm, ford , honda and nissan. suzuki is nowhere is sight.

You people are really frog in the well. Come out of India. Hyundai is famous for quality less cars and I bet NRI's seldom owes Hyundai cars beacuse of its quality
