We don't need cult brand

We have likings and dislikings. We like several products. But Indians are not usually slaves of any product, but masters. Indians use them, sometimes gets font of a product, but never become slave of a product. Indians usually think of the real worth and usability of a product, never fall to some commercials or fake heroistic appearances. May be youth and kids fall for that. But adults seldom can be lured by products by itself.

Can India have cult brands?

it's more than possible - if you create a product that people wants to have and to show off. Examples abound where cult/iconic brands can come up - take the goood ole Ambie - people are buying retro- it's cool. So why hasn't the Ambassador been upgraded and with the latest technology and restyled yet keeping its '50s look, like BMW did with the Mini-Cooper, Volkswagen with the 'Beetle' etc.
Even the 'Royal Enfield' brand could become almost as iconic as the Harley if properly branded.
yes it's difficult, what with all the increased competition from new entrants like China, Brazil etc, but not impossible.

I agree All this is cult and followed by millions.Par Subko gora banne ka,america main Upar se neeche thak poorab se pashchim thak sub Gaay kaathe hai, same type ki.Divorse bhi baraabar karte hai aur Ameriki military mahaanta ko salute bhi karte hai.Aur Jesus house cum playground cum spa main baraabar jaate hai.India aisa nahi hai, once ameriki dominance goes down with its dollar value,so will all this Stud brands disappear.

Cult brands

Cult brands can only exist if the mind set of the target audience can be influenced to that great an extent. Our strong family fabric does not allow such an influence to exist atleast in the commercial world.
However i am suprised that the stalwarts of marketing who have contributed to the columns above failed to recognize the strength of indviduals like Satya Sai baba, Mata Amritananda , and shri shri ravi shankar as a brand and definitely qualifying as cult status.

its wrong to suggest that India is incapable of having a cult brand.

Bajaj Pulsar is one, so is Bullet or some others...
ofcourse we dont have clubs like HOG etc but then we have never have had any clubs/groups like that ever... i dont remember coming across even hackers clubs or any other clubs of that
type

its not our culture to do that...
its american thing....they have fraternaties etc in colleges alpha beta gamma etc etc whatever they call it...

we dont have anything like that..we generally dont have exclusive clubs like that (forget the high end stuff where only "rich and Famous" are alolowed and can afford.
