Migration to Mysore- Bad idea
by chilkoor sachidev kumar on May 15, 2007 02:18 PM

We all know the mess IT has created in Bangalore. Not they are gunning to bring Mysore to the floor. Hope Govt. realises the priorities and socio economic impact of such a diabolic move. God Save Mysore. The King is anyway powerless. Only God can save Mysore.

Hi ,

Why it companies r looking forward only south campuses ?Why they r not concentrate on the north side .At the beginning i think that they estabalished a IT Hub in the B'Lore .But I think that South campuses as well other things r so costly to survive an any it guys....

So why they r not looking for the north campuses as well as the cheap resources at the north side .....

So atleast big It major companies should think about the north campuses also ,so that they can well functioning from all the part of the country.....

Bangalore Have Worst Infrastructure. Here dont have proper roads. Bus stands are in the local streets and they call it main roads. It companies are only there because of climate and Early establishment of Indian IT gaint in South like Infosys, Wipro, Satyam. Due to these IT gaints foreign IT companies also established in south to provide the services or to get the services. then small small consltancies started to provide the services to both. And now because of so many people working for IT compaies. It is now not possible to relocate them to other place. Thats why it is growing and growing in Bangalore.

Infrastructure wise North India and Hyderabad is much much better.

There are lots of IT companies are realizing this fact they are establishing in North, Gurgaon, Delhi, Noida. Down the line of 10 yrs North will sync Bangalore like

IT companies looking at Mysore
by Kasiraju Nagaraj on May 15, 2007 10:08 AM

I think the corporates are again doing the same mistake that happened to B'Lore, bcoz nobody were looking at the availability of infrastructure before moving to Mysore. The IT companies should form an advisory committee for making the govt provide all necessary basic infrastructure, otherwise it will go the Bangalore way

way beyond mysore

The it companies should asked to go beyond mysore to places like anatapur, bidar, belgaum and cuduppah. It companies do not need inputs like a manufacturing company ,hence they should be sitated in under devoloped areas where the cost ol land is less and those areas could devolop.sez status could be given these areas .All sez should be permitteed in non agricultural remote areas for prper devolopment which could reduce the stress at cities.

True to some extent, but the exploitation in Tier II cities is more than what we have in B'lore. My friend moved to CTS coimbatore during early 2006. He got only 5% hike, the reason the company says is that it is a tier 2 city so the hike will be less. After a few years he will be getting a very less pay compared to his peers in B'lore, may be then he has to re-locate once again. It is good to work near home, but we should think twice about our future developments too.

tier 2 cities should have tangible benefits, what yu say is spot on. the reason yu see this trend is because we are the codemonkeys, as and when we go up the value chain neither the location nor the codemonkey tag will matter. until we're codemonkeys, we will have to look after our purses.

i only wish infy and other companies get into product development too. tired of listening to "services" only tag. we need products , and those can drive us up in terms of value, and afterall at the end of the day - get us more challenging work, more satisfaction, and moremoney of course!

I am pretty much impressed by your views IT companies should be located all parts of karnataka for that matter all parts of India to avoid economic imbalances within the country not but the least some companies should dare to go northeast whcih is considered most backward place in India.

Another city which have development potential is Cannanore in North Kerala, which is close to Mysore (200 Km West of Mysore) and Bangalore (350 Km West of Bangalore). Kerala's fourth international airport is coming up there, The most modern and most critial Naval Academy will be commissioned there in 2008 and it also have a Seaport. It was an important city of trade and a port city during the times of british, it has the potential to grow, it already have a Software Park.

what about red flags outside the software offices in kerala, there is already talk of unions in tvdm software park. so software industy will never grow in communist strong palces like kannur.

Kannur... For IT may be in dreams...
Why don't u tell about almost 34 hartals ands strike that disrupted the district last year.
Change the mindset of the poeple and then dream about IT and all.. Till that time all kannur IT mallus stay outside, let our parents and relatives be there.....

Let them talk about elections and subsidies.

Karanataka is 5 times the size of Kerala. But there are only 2 airports in the state - Bangalore & Mangalore, both in South Karnataka.Mangalore is just near the Kerala border. In north Karnataka there are a couple of third grade airports - Hubli & Belgaum which are almost non-functional with only Air Deccan service, that too only to Bangalore. Even Mysore, such a famous city of Karnataka has no air service. Except Bangalore, Karnataka is mostly a rural state.Even the operating Bangalore airport is no great shakes. Now a new international airport is coming up in Devanahalli. Hope that will live upto the brand image of Bangalore.

In contrast a small state, Kerala, has 3 international airports one each in South Kerala (Trivandrum), Central Kerala (Cochin) & North Kerala( Calicut).
The Cochin International Airport is one of the finest in the country. Now 4th international airport is coming up in Kannur, which is further up north. In addition Keralites staying near Mangalore can access that airport also.

Karnataka's advantage over Kerala is that there is a lot of free land available. Between two cities (or shall I say villages?) you will find acres of barren land. But if you travel through Kerala you will see that it's continuously inhabited throughout the length of the state. And it's full of greenery t
oo!

mangalore is a plum place for IT activity. the city has all the required facilities, and has a decent airport and cosmopolitan culture. after bangalore, i really cannot fathom why mangalore is not an option!

for that matter i'd say whats the big deal in commuting between cities in india ? get airports modernised across india. we are talking as if we are a different set of countries. damn the states, and let there be development across india, from north till the southern tip!

The IT majors and the Govt think of developing other places which are not near to any major cities like Bombay, Chennai, Bangalore etc. This will spread the developmemnt even to semi-rural areas and also will not congest the cities..
