Cell no Colletion technique
by anup jaiswal on May 06, 2007 12:54 AM

To aviod unsolicited calls follow following :
1. Never give ur mobile no to and offer schemes (like free gift, free lottery etc ) at any mall.
2. Dont give mobile no after u check out of hotel. This might be difficult but u can always give ur office reception no and name instead.
3. Never give ur mobile no in any application for loan, phone application, credit card .. or for any bank related documents. They trade alot.
4. Never give ur mobile over any internet survey or application or inqueries.
5. Never drop ur business card at any place. Many malls, hotel ask you to drop ur card ... politely refuse.

Everything in India is a purchaseable commodity
by Paramesh Waran on May 05, 2007 03:46 PM

Where did you get the idea that anything at all is sacrosanct in this country? Not so. Anything and anyone is purchaseable, at a cost. Most of the cell phone operators in India are sharp hucksters and the rest belongs to the corrupt government. Case closed. If there is money to be made this lot will sell your chaddi size and the length of your little finger.

Leaking Cell nos
by Sandeep Kulshrestha on May 05, 2007 03:43 PM

I had the same problem a few months back on my BSNL mobile. On my newly acquired no (that was alloted first time to me) I have started receiving 10-20 sms per day from LIC. They said like that "congratulation to Branch Manager ..... for achieving the ..... crore turnover on ...... The BM and staff is congratulated." That way if any branch of LIC in north India achieves its target, I was sent a message for congratulation.

I fired a e-mail to CMD BSNL (after failing at local level, state level) suggesting them why mobile companies not come up with some anti spamming program so that a user himsenlf can decide whether he wants to receive sms from it or not. That does not happen however, I got a call from BSNL Delhi, and then in a period of 3-4 days my number was removed from all the message centers of LIC for stopping that nonsense. just imagine receiving such sms every 5-10 minutes.

But it is great that my mail to CMD worked else I might have no option but to go to consumer forum.
