Same as always
by Kris K on Mar 15, 2007 12:32 PM  | Hide replies

Hi,

India or Hindustan has always been the same....Muslims invaders invaded, we simply watched and tried our best to protect our women and culture.

Britishers came, we slogged on...

Indedependence came, we showed our true colors, lazy, irresponsible, children manufacturing people. Corruption is one thing we have specialized on.

Economic liberalization came, we positioned ourselves by buying real estate and hoping to make a killing.

RAJ SB

If you are not a muslim already why dont convert and become part of a coveted 22 crore "Minority doing no wrong" despite so many Saintly souls in the criminal world. All Secular souls will be licking u ANYWHERE U WANT TO GET YOUR VOTE. Kashimiree pandits have been wiped out almost . Few lakh brahmins should not matter. Go ahead wipe them out / or find a anti brahmin virus and PROSPER.

you forgot to mention where Raj would be licking the muslims. He cant be blamed for it. The mentality of slaves would be like slaves. It cannot be changed by reservation.

This is one of the main reasons why we are not moving ahead. Neither we move ahead nor we let others (meaning the people belonging to other castes, religions, regions, states, so on) move ahead. For us, people belonging to the "other" group are evil people and they should be stopped from becoming rich and should not be allowed to progress. This mentality is so deep rooted in our society that nobody is exempt from it. This mentality has to change.

Where are my taxes going? Not on infrastructure...
by Priya Pavithran on Mar 15, 2007 12:30 PM  | Hide replies

Every time my vehicle slips into a pothole rattling my bones, I wonder where my taxes are going.

I know half my salary gets taxed but I still see the same potholed road. Every night the electricity goes off for hours, there's water shortage, there are schools in Bihar with different age groups all sitting in one room, I pay more for less amount of food. I mean......just what is going on? Our leaders of the bygone era shouted 'Quit India' to the Brits. But I have a very good mind to Quit India myself. Will the government wake up and smell the coffee?? Oh wait...that's taxed too!

Correction in Article About Enron
by Vivek Jaiswal on Mar 15, 2007 12:29 PM

Your article incorrectly mentiond that politicians were responsible for low power cost for Enron to be scuttled.

The truth is that Enron had BRIBED all the relevant politicians with US $ 60 million of 'educational funds' and got all the contracts and guarantees that they wanted to supply very EXPENSIVE power @ 7 Rs/kwh (or 14 cents/kwh) as a 'base generating station'.

Whilst cheaper power from exisiting companies who were charing only Rs. 3/kwh (6 cents) were NOT going to be allowed to supply on a 'base' basis.

The cheaper producers went to court which ruled that irrespective of the contracts entered by the politicians - the cheapest supplier would first supply to the Indian customer.

So please do get your facts correct about Enron and verify them before making sweeping statements.

Vivek

People from other states are too afraid to visit those cities. Those cities are ruled by Babu Bajrangi and his thug gangs. So, it's the responsibility of Gujarathis like you to let us know how the infrastructure is, in those cities. We will just listen and feel happy.

Very strange, that people should highlight a rag tag out fit like babu bajrangi, while messrs thackery & Co day in and day out with impunity spew venom and hatred towards muslims, gujaratis, biharis and no one, right from Mr. Ajit Kamble, Raj Sardesai, Javed Akhtar, Lalu Prasad, Shabna Azmi, Arundhati Roy have any thing to say! Every one knows that more than meets the eye happened during the Mumbai Riots, but then you didnt have the media and in any case whenever Shiv sainiks speak, the media remains as bashful as a young virgin bride on her wedding nite (This breed to is fast disappearing!. For all the gujarat and narendra Modi Bashers, since 2002 the state has been very peaceful and this i say with conviction and competence of having been a resident in this dynamic state since 1983.
Mr. Ajit Kamble is welcome to visit ahmedabad, stay at my place and have a good darshan of Ahmedabad and see for himself the state of affairs! I had made similar appeal to mr. rajdeep sardesai, in june, 2002 when he still believed gujarat was up in flames!

Any body prasing Gujarat or its governments achievements is HINDU FUNDAMENTALIST.(I donot understand wht it means) Hence no body dares to . Reading the quantum of references made to "Gujarat Riots" day in and day out in all types of media, I feel that it is only in GUJARAT that riots happened and ALL OTHER PARTS OF INDIA have been and continue to be peaceful and prosperous - kashmir including. And the Secular activities of conversion by Church in Northeast too are only to be admired. WEll if there are demons in india they are the one who do not talk in APPEASING TONE menaing thereby COMMUNAL forces. No matter what good it does the BJP or its admirers are normally and will always be referred to SAFRON FACISTS, BAJRANGI BRIGANDS and wht not ?

I think the ITsector is overhyped with everyone wants to start a IT company ot a unit in small towns
India does not need InformationTechnology anymore .it needs major changes in water managemnet ,power management and agriculture for food managemnet
we don't need mba and engineers to do that
also politicians are not required either
we need people with common sense and there are plenty of people available in india

Well said Dinesh. I visited a power plant in Rihand (which is in eastern UP very near the Jharkhand border) last June. Rihand is on top of a mountain. The entire road from Varanasi Airport (the nearest) to Rihand is just 300 kilometres long, but it takes 7 hours to reach there across potholes the size of craters on moon. Along the way you see lots of people who have no drinking water, although it rains quite heavily in this region. I asked a guy at the power plant why there is insufficient water in the area. He replies, its because the water seeps downhill. I asked him in all innocence, why they dont build some tanks to store the rain water. And I got the reply I didnt expect or atleast partially expected. ITS THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB TO BUILD WATER STORAGE TANKS. So no matter they and their cattle die because of thirst and their fields rot because of lack of water, they wont spend a penny on water tanks. Come on in a country with 1.25 billion people, if each person contributes 1 rupee a day, the government treasury would be heavier by 456.25 billion rupees a year. CANT WE BUILD A STRONGER INDIA THAT WAY ?? DO WE THEN NEED THE MULTINATIONALS ?? But the question remains who starts first ???

This is totally disagreeable! In countries like US & Singapore, people don't collect money and build water tanks...People give taxes from their hard earned money and give vote to these politicians and they have the right for water & electricity
