Their worth cannot be measured in terms of money
by HariOm Chawla on Jul 02, 2007 06:04 PM

It has become habit with the media to measure everything in terms of money. Anyone who earns the largest, is considered to be the greatest in the field. As per this criteria, A doctor who earns the maximum and robs his poor patients is the greatest. An actor who gets maximum amount per picture is the greatest. A sportsperson who has earned most during the year, is the greatest. A yogi who owns a big fleet of mercedes and charges maximum fee per lecture is the greatest yogi.

This is all rubbish. Through our materialism, we are reducing every personality trait, every achievement, whether in field of science, literature, media, films, sports in terms of money.

Worth of a person cannot be measured in terms of money. Money is only a by-product and a person who directly crave for more and more material wealth, loses the very art which made him famous.

Since everyone is hankering after money, thinking that earning more would make him the greatest, there are no real differences between people nowadays. Whether in field of politics, literature, media, sports or art, we do not have really great personalities. The personal idiocyncracies have just been lost and taken over by money.

My friends and colleagues were cutting jokes on my figure and calling me %u2018Gundu%u2019. I was nervous. I tried here and there, but every time it brings my moral down. I was thinking for joining some very popular institutes to reduce my weight.
But I am lucky. I have some wonderful friends around me. They come in front and motivate me to do some thing that I going to share with you.
Now after almost three months, I am 142 lbs (64 Kg). The very importantly, I did not went on dieting, or compromise my breakfast, lunch or dinner, that I used to do earlier. I also did not take any complementary food.
The simple mantra that I followed is %u201CBurn more calories than consumption every day%u201D. What ever way you adopt to reduce weight, this is simple and advised by almost all experts. I%u2019ll like to share what to do and what not to do and how to do.

HOW TO BECOME BILLIONAIRE
by ARINDAM GHOSH on Jul 01, 2007 04:34 PM

One point is common in all billionaires. All has/had good health with strong functioning stomachs. That means either their gene had some speciality or their eating patterns had some speciality. What is that ? Indian food is such that it makes one sick easily. So only TATA will soon become top company in the world.

FORBES has been quite ignorant about many Indian politician billionaires when preparing their list. Forget philanthropy, our politician friends are busy betting millions of bucks on cricket matches and what not.

If the billionaires are charity minded, they could not have become billionaires. Be a man! don't look for charity. Work and earn your bread!

The real charity is the one which no one knows about except for the person doing it & almighty GOD. A charity done for the purpose of gaining popularity and fame is just a charity for the namesake & will not reap as much benefit as God knows at the end of the day who you really are and for what purpose are you committing your charitable deeds. Also, its the universal law of nature..you give money you will recieve more money, you give love you will recieve more love..So people don't think that not being a billionaire bares you from doing charity...Give More Give More and You'll receive more...Have a Big Heart and God will respond accordingly.

you don't need to be a billionaire to be charitable.Even you can be charitable.I was once motivated by one of my relative and since then even I do my bit for last 10 years.I cannot afford billions of dollar, but a couple of 1000 rupees. But at the end of the day it does make feel happy that i am doing what i can to help.I believe that it is easy to preach other's but difficult to follow yourself.

I agree with you. Even ordinary citizens like all of us can do our bit by giving charity. Charity need not be in billions. Even a small sum of money to the needy is enough to be called charity.

in principle i agree to the RICH giving charity to the poor, but look at the other side these people who grew from rags to riches did NOT get any charity. tis their own GRIT & GUTS, the poor do NOT NEED charity, they need to GET OUT of their POOR MINDSET

Madam,

How many of these billioners are really giving away their money to charity. Poverty still continues in this country. The politicans maake speeches about poverty alleviation. The poor are becoming poorer and the rich are getting richer. Very pathetic.

A recent news story (Reuters) "World's wealthy worth $37.2 trillion - report" By Tim McLaughlin reveals that the "elite group gave less than 1 percent of their net worth to charity". But I think this is a *comparatively* minor point, the more important one being whether these billionaires CREATED WEALTH or whether they GRABBED THE MONEY from poorer or really poor people through various stratagems. (Take Mayawati for example: she became richer by Rs.52 crores, and the poor people including BSP workers became that much poorer.) Stock market dealings are a blatant example of people becoming richer without creating wealth. Even as of now, I think 99 per cent of wealth in any country is concentrated in the hands of 1 or 2 per cent of people. It is a great iniquity in a country like ours, and we should stop admiring and worshipping these moneybags, who contribute little or nothing to the wealth of the nation.

there is saying that what the left hand gives, the right hand should not know, and that means keep quiet about the charity one does. many people give charity but just follow this simple policy. billionares too must be following this but keep silent. why be like the miser who donated a tubelight but wanted his name inscribed between the choke and the starter so that everyone saw his action when the light was switched on/
