before being an entreprenuer
by Dhanamjaya S on Jun 20, 2007 08:48 PM  | Hide replies

For all entreprenuers:
Some of the most important points to get an enterprise started is:
1.Before becoming an entreprenuer, save money to run the house(family).
2. Make a dry run. Check the product and service with friends, relatives and some total strangers.
3. Why should the customer come to you? Ask this question to your family members, friends and new acquaintances. Tell them to be honest.
4. Differentiate between emotional and professional aspects in business.
5. Failures teach a person to be dynamic.
6. Believe in yourself......and your enterprise.
7. Start small and grow big steadily.
The list may have some more points, but these are basics.

All the books, journals, articles on entrepreneurship tell a lot many positive things which are quite necessary to succeed in the business. But they never tell the most important things and without them, rarely any body can succeed in business in India. One of them is corruption. If you have to succeed, you must be good in using all pervasive corruption in India in your favour. You should know how to spend appropriate money in winning over corrupt people, whom you will encounter every day in your life as an entrepreneur You should also develop the art of making people corrupt, even if they are not already and get things done.

There is difference in knowing and acting.....
by Anirudh Sharma on Jun 20, 2007 10:56 AM  | Hide replies

I believe almost everybody already had realised the fact stated in this article about doing something that you like. The problem is that by neglecting your current stable profession you expose yourself as well as people dependent on you to that risk. Sounds rather pessimistic, right? But thats the plight of majority of people in India. Just a good idea and love for that idea doesn't make a good business here. All these happy stories can be a good read, but what would help us more is reading about cases that failed. Anybody???

You are right! Let failed ventures be told and analyzed. That will be more motivating than a success story.

Its good to be Cautious.....but Caution NEVER means dont dare to do it(the hallmark of our great mentality till date)....weigh the pros n cons and decide to do something satisfying in life than just dragging alongwith the mundane...that will differentiate you frm mere exisitng animals :)

I took the plunge to convert my hobby into business
by satyendra prabhu on Jun 20, 2007 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

I had been working for a MNC for 12 years and quit when realised that I was going nowhere. I was a bold step cause it meant forgoing a fat paycheque at the end of the month. I then got myself a diploma in interior designing which was till then just a hobby and there was no looking back. After doing up my own flat I got an opportunity do do a relatives ...then friends..then clients came pouring due to word of mouth publicity. Now it is two years since i started out and I shudder to think about my years at the workplace. I wouldnt trade my new found business for any job anywhere in the world. Its a great high when you are your own boss and can work and live life on your own terms!!

Thts awesome to hear.....i guess people should get motivated by seeing wht you are doing and how u r growing.

Similarly i have a dream to create a forum where 2 different set of people(one with ideas and one with potential to execute it) to bring together....but need time to put in those things. But yes will surely come up in a short while

Hi
I am aslo having same idea as you have. Because i know lot of people with potential wealth but they are asking foolproof ideas to invest. I have been asking my friends and relatives for best ideas. After seeing ur reply i think tjis is an best solution to start a forum/webpage where the people can register thier ideas and find some VCs... If you have any ideas/clarification contact me at ns.chinna@gmail.com
