why so many procedures for claim I do not understand. It seems like more reasons not ot give money. One report at insurance office should do everthing rather than asking people to go and report it on streets and police stations. When insurance money is paid we donot go to any of this middle man. It is shame of insurance company if it cannot do everthing on its own with somany people eating our money and doing nothing

U R RIGHT ! WHY SO MANY PROCEDURES AND QUESTIONS AND .... JUST TO REDUCE THE CLAIM MONEY BY 100% IN BEST TRY !! SPECIALLY THESE PRIVATE COMPANIES ARE REAL B'TADS AND THE AGENTS M'FKERS ..GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE SOME REAL HARD MEASURES TO ENSURE THEIR MODE OF OPERATION TO PRESERVE INDIAN CONSUMERS ..PLS MR.PREZ / Mr.PM DO SOMETHING.. I HAVE HAD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH "TATA AIG" WHICH CHEATED ME LIKE ANYTHING. THEY DIDNT PAY SINGLE COING WHEN MY BRAND NEW MITSUBISHI MET AN ACCIDENT EVEN OUT OF THE DRIVER'S CONTROL...THEY GAVE SOME XYZ EXCUSE AND SIMPLY REFUSED TO PAY ! I HAVE ALL THE PROOFS AND DOCUMENTS OF THE INSURANCE COVER NOTE .... ANY MEDIA PERSON LISTENING ??

MY RECOMMENDATION,, SPECIALLY FOR TATA AIG : SAY NO !

How to claim for Fracture expenses
by Vinu on Jun 05, 2007 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

I had a fracture (as I met with an accident), I spend lot of money as they say alignment is required and long list of stuff, how to claim this. There is no hospitalization done or required for this. How about for the person who spend money on expensive scans like CT, EMEG etc etc ( as prescribed by the hospital doctor) without hospitalization

Insurance claims: Much harder than it seems
by Salil Kumar on Jun 05, 2007 10:37 AM  | Hide replies

I wish the claims were as easy as the author writes. Just to enumerate, here is my experience, so far:

a) My car got stolen on November 10, from NOIDA.
b) The same day, I went to the police station there to file the FIR. The poloice refused initially, virtually blaming me for losing my car. Finally, after a call to a higher up, they relented, and asked me to write the complete description of events, in Hindi. This done, they said to collect my FIR two days later, as only the SHO can 'authorise' it. I got it finally after 4 visits to the miserable station.

b) I informed the insurance co, and a day later, they promised to send across a surveyor/investigator. The man duly came after a week, and did his usual questioning.

c) Over the next few weeks, the company chose to give me information on the documents required in drips and drabs, starting with the need for something called RC particulars, then, a certificate from the National Crime Records bureau...

d) Two months after the theft, started the task of getting the non-traceable certificate from the (shudder)police. They made me run around again, citing difficulty to find the file, and then, transfer of the concerned IO on my case. Finally, a call to a 'connection' later, I found myself in front of the SSP, who expressed deep susprise that something so 'routine' had not been done. He promptly called up the SHO and scolded him. So when I went back to the station, I faced a hostile SHO who blamed me for all the confus

I wrote too much I suppose. Anyway to cut a long story short, besides the non tyraceable certificate, you may also be asked to get case closure papers from the district courts, which takes its own sweet time. I have done that too, and am still awaiting my payment. Through all this, though I have not paid bribes, I have spent close to 7000 bucks on travel and lawyers.
