I See infosys
by RAVICHANDRAN on Jun 05, 2007 08:00 AM

Leaders have visions. I am sure Mr.Nilenkani will take the organisation to a much higher level.
Infosys is a class by itself and it is setting trends, how the Management should be in future.
Ravichandran.

Hope Mr. Nilekani is reading newspapers and watching news on the tv abt the happenings in rajasthan. When people want to brand themselves as backwards and STs, what do you expect? Infy has done its job well. Will the govts reciprocate?

compare INFY to GOOGLE....chalk and cheese...
by Dinesh Nagaraju on Jun 04, 2007 07:09 PM  | Hide replies

google/hotmail/yahoo they r not gr8 concepts...its all abt seein an oppourtunity...INFY brag squad is mostly freshly hired naive tech-coolies, much delighted to get a campus placement and their first pay-check...some oldies who hv invested their life savings not knowing much abt tech industry...let us not belittle INFYs contribution either...they did a commendable job in some ways...may be INFY has contractual obligations to do anything else otherthan servicing...restricted from launching their own products violating IPRs of companies dat it services...but matured infoscions who hv made $$$ can definitely do something better...instead of sitting and counting $$$ made every quarter...a stale job!...and another best thing/ service dat they can do is to stop pretending like larger than life entities...to respect regional and national interests...u know none of da businessmen in world hv dat courage...and known to pick fights with goverments & public...and give unsolicited advices to govts....but some hv developed dat courage...bad influence!???...2 much of adulation has made johnny a bad boy...or johnny doesnt care abt dat...driven by something else...

Infy business strategy
by KRISHNA PRASAD on Jun 04, 2007 06:05 PM  | Hide replies

What every body here did not notice is that Infy has a business model which is giving huge profits. They will continue to grow because, there are people to think new and implement in this company. They are also allowing progression at top very well, like NRNM making way to Nilekeni who in turn now made way to Krish which indicate that they are allowing other to occupy the position and implement their ideas which is good for any company. The same CEO or Chairman for years will be bereft of ideas and such company will loose in the long run. About hiring in IT industry, no one can complain as all are doing the same thing. I under stand they need to show numbers to overseas clients to get projects and in TCS many of new recruits roam around till they get a seat to work after months of waiting and the same is the case with Infy and others. But in a nutshell, Infy has done proud to our country giving a respectable brand name in the global markets.

every business model has shelf life.Copy n paste business model will wither in next 2-3 points.Infosys should take leaf out of smaller Indian IT companies like Sasken,I-Flex,Financial Tech..

But instead they are busy hedging extra cash!! What has stopped Infy from investing huge amount in R&D?? If google can grow in 5 years why not INFY with all talent and resources( as they claim).

Given a choice i would always prefer to work in Sasken,I-flex or Financial tech.

Ok. Call it a BPO (writing software is a business process in a way)company and not an IT company.
As long as it is making money....

infosys
by Srinivas Kaja on Jun 04, 2007 05:54 PM  | Hide replies

Hey! we all know for sure that infosys started from scratch and became huge in the last 17 years.Very few organisations in the world did this and in india very very few achieved this.Let all be proud of this achievement instead of critising.I feel that we are all capable of finding faults with infosys but let us ask ourselfs " how much did we contribute to this country with the few rupees we have " charity begins at home.
I feel a better way is to emulate the good practises of others and unlearn the bad ones.

good bye to all your pessimism

Nothing wrong in being a service company
by Natesh on Jun 04, 2007 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

Whenever there is an article about any IT company immdly some readers talk about lack of indianized products. They compare Indian IT companies with SAP, Microsoft, IBM or Google. The combined employee strength of all these companies put together will come close to 150,000. If indian engineers were so bad at developing products why did these companies invest in India? Finacle is a good banking product and slowly our IT majors are moving into good products which compete against the best in the world. Negative thinkers will always be negative, no use to worry abt what they say. If a dog walks on a water they would complain the dog cannot swim. I am happy about professional companies like Infy doing well in India. NRN has only 10-15% shares in Infosys and leads a simple life. NRN's son who is studying Ph.d in US will not inherit NRN's shares or become the CEO of Infosys. Only the best leadership will succeed Infy and it will be the kin of Nandan or NRN or Gopalakrishnan. In India this concept is slowly evolving which is a welcome sign than just one family enjoying all the fruits. Every company should be floated in public and shares sold to the employees. The founder of the company can retain 35-40% but rest should be equally shared. I agree on corporates developing townships and providing education to the masses. Infact Wipro & Infy are already doing it. There will be a day when the world's largest company will be an Indian company. (TCS, Infy & Wipro are in top 25 now)

Reliance is different league and it will be among top 3 companies of world in next 3 year.I dont think Infy,Wipro or TCS can survive on present business model.Coolies will take solace of working for IT company and earning fat pay check but facts are facts.Google an unknown company 5 years back is now way ahead in all parameters when compared to combined parameters of all INdian IT companies!! this shows that we Indians are happy to play second fiddle!!

If infosys dont revest their profit back into the business and invent some thing, Vijay Mallya will buy Infosys. Atleast he spends.

Appreciate what's being done
by Satish Bagali on Jun 04, 2007 04:48 PM

Read many opinions. Read many thoughts.

Once again I was assured of a 'mentality' which doesn't know how to treat someone who has done some good.

Whether Infy is selfish, greedy, profit oriented...blah blah...they are doing a simple thing as generating employement directly indirectly within their own capacity and limitations. But the thing is there are 'mentalitities' which never get satisified and always see things cynically and susupeciously.

If someone doing a job 'A', apprciate him for doing that. Don't blame him for not doing job 'Z'.

Cheers,
-satish
