Sir I have resigned from one company and joined another company recently. I have received Gratuaty and PF from earlier company. Please tell me whether Gratuaty and PF are taxable.

Hi Friends,
Do not ever try to file returns using TAXSMILe website. I got very better experience with them. They will take their fees first. Fot last one week I am trying file my tax returns using this website" TAXSMILE", but I could not. There are many lope holes in their software which they use.Ultimately there is no end results.
Please avoid this website.

Though there is no place where we fill in the state code. ultimately i had to file my returns manually. my money is with them and again i wasnt able to file online. what a cheat?

I am working in ICICI Bank and I have only Salary income and very small interest received on my savings account. The bank has given me FORM 16 along with SB a/c statement from 01.04.06 to. 31.03.07. Last yr i filed IT return in Jamshedpur, now I am in Kolkata, I had already taken print of ITR-1 and sending it to Jamshedpur to file. Should I have to change my address to Kolkata. My job is transferable so I do not want any change in the address.

Please advise.

As your main source of income is salary, you have option to file your return of income to the Assessing Officer having jurisdiction over your place of work or permanent residential address. As you have a transferable job, it would be better to file your return of income at your permanent residential town.

For filing online, u need to have a digital signature. U need to buy them. It costs from Rs.500 (from govt related bodies) to Rs.3000 (from TCS). It does not justify when u compare filing thru tax consultant who charges around 250. Because this digi.signatures are valid for only 1 to 2 years

Before filling return, one has to register. It is impossible to register. it asks you to enter your PAN number, name, last name etc. I am filing my income tax for the last 15 years with my PAN number. When I enter my PAN number, it says, pan number invalid, any answer...

Is ITR-2 better than Saral?

ITR-2 form has unnecessary details to be filled making it more complicated. Form should be such that even a simple individual like me can fill it easily.Don't U think???

# of pages got increased because of more details. If u r patient to read each and every details u shud be able to fill in on your own.

Try to download adobe reader 8.x and the editable .pdf file. Fill them using your computer, click "Check Form" button and take a print out. Sign this form and handover in person. While filling this soft copy, leave blank the address box of yours and employer. After takiing print out u can fill it hand written.

You have to use ITR-4.If you have to get your accounts audited u/s 44AB, last date is 31.10.2007. If no audit is required then the last date is 31.07.2007. As you have loss, please file within due dates to carry forward your loss to net year(s).
