Second green revolution is possible if considered an emergency......
by shobana nair on Jul 14, 2007 08:31 AM

The second green revolution is possible if it is well planned and taken as an emergency.More and more from the present generation should join agricultural universities with a heart to turn every thing green around them. The soil abuse should stop soon to save ourselves and the farmers who have to work harder on dry land and in the end,end up with debt due to low yeild. As a doctor is important for the rural as well a farmer is important to an urban as well.

by Prashanth Bagali on Jul 14, 2007 07:40 AM

Hi,
Please read it as Prof.M.S.Swaminathan. I am not sure, how this mistake happened in the message.I am happy for the Professor about this recognition and Dr.Borlaug.
Being Agricultural Scientists, we have the greater responsibility to provide food security to everyone in the World.

How Is It THat These Great Men ... Were Never In The Limelight.
by Indur Chhugani on Jul 14, 2007 06:05 AM

Nice to hear of Dr Norman Borlaug andDr C S Swaminathan, people who helped feed the millions ... Even your article today does not carry their pictures.

More should be written about such man, so that some people from the younger generation get inspired and follow in their footsteps.

Now, you must write an article about some social workers, who are trying their best to see that farmers do not commit suicide ... I an certain many are working towards that.

Go back to nurturing the earth
by Naik Family on Jul 14, 2007 03:56 AM

The green revolution was sustained by introducing GMO's, pesticides, fertilizers and other so called "technology". This lead to overexploiting the earth and also degrading soil quality over the years. It is come a full circle now. We need to go back to the organic ways of life. Not just in agriculture, but all other aspects. But the direction of govt policies and humans in general are steering towards, it may never happen. So will this problem ever be solved ????
