enticejuan, you are right that these moral degradation problems exist, but BPO is not responsible for these, but its the loose character of those ppl involved. Those who are doing these things, will do all this stuff even if they were not in BPO but somewhere else.
As far as health is concerned, that really is a matter of worry and appropriate action shud be taken to ensure the good health of employees (like regular checkup to find out if health is degrading after they started working).

Nashik is less than 200 km away from mumbai and pune and still the real estate cost is very less than mumbai and pune,we can find thousands of graduate and post graduate youth in nashik who can work in 50 % salary which can get in mumbai and pune.

no doubt nashik is better placed than bellary and some small towns in andhra etc......also nashik is less costly than pune/mumbai...but pune has so so very huge youth class and fluent english speakers that many are still searching jobs....in a nutshell pune is not yet saturated...once thats covered up nashik is the next boom....

Bhopal, a right choice
by Anshuman Mishra on Jul 13, 2007 05:39 PM

Bhopal is a very good choice as the people are very well mannered and educated. Also the average IQ and maturity of people is higher than in the people of Delhi or some other cosmopolitan city. I have to build a team, I would prefer non-cosmopolitan and small town candidates as they are mostly honest in dealing and are not restless

Is this a really good news?
by Khas on Jul 13, 2007 04:08 PM  | Hide replies

Most of the people here appreciating the move but the news artical has hidden the other factors which are not so good reasons for these companies to move to smaller town. Actually it is not the cost of land which these companies are worried about as most of them are running on rented places. Every year they shift to a new location citing bigger space as the reason but it is the fact the each year the owner wants to hike the rent hence the companies are moving to new locations. The reason for moving to smaller town and cities is not the real estate but cheap manpower.
The writer of the article should have looked into the salary factor also. In a place like Bangalore or Hydrabad the salary should be not less then 15K if you want hire someone for the long term and it will be more then 75K if the post is higher. While in smaller town like Hubli the higher post itself will not cost more then 20K while the junior level jobs and entry level jobs will be well under 5K. While these companies continue to charges there clients in hugh dollars but wants to take the dual advantage of low labour cost and tax benefits for opening in smaller town as the SEZs in Bangalore and Hydarabad are almost completed there Tax free period.
Will rediff gives the complete picture so that people will realize that there is nothing to excit about.

dont really agree with you..
companies are moving of cost factor..yes ..of course..thats what they are supposed to do...make more profit...
a salary of 20k in a small town is equivalent to a salary of 40k in blore if u compare the cost of living...
also, can help in development of these towns too and help reduce migration to big cities wch are already saturated..
so for whatever reason it might be...its good..

Its good
by sushant b wath on Jul 13, 2007 04:03 PM

Its really good for the betterment of small towns as well as for the big metro cities , which are already over loaded with the various industrial and business activities.
Moreover it will make the small cities self sustainable in terms of providing the employment to the localities and will also helps in the uplifting of the social and economical status of the local people. And also restric their migration towards metros and big cities in the search of bread and butter.
Not only the local people are benefitted but also the comapanies who are setting it will be benefitted as they can get the work done at coamparatively lower cost than what they need to spend in the metros.
Don't think it will be at the cost of quality, as one should not forgot that, they are the same people comming from small towns employeed in the MNCs and big companies in bigger city.
Its not the intellegents and knowledge only but some times its the opportuinity which matters.
Overall its the good move.

This region has lot of potential with highly intelectual man power (man colleges and universities) and well connected by Air/Rail/Road which is exactly mid way between Bombay and Bangalore.
