THE RETURN OF KALIYAA NAAG
by on Feb 13, 2008 09:42 PM

Yamuna today has become more poisonous than when Kaliyaa Naag was living in it and Lord Krishna captured him and ordered him to leave the river.i agree with the person in post above that ISKCON should take greater responsibility in dealing with the arisen crisis.ISKCON cant become a silent witness of this tragic scenario.the role of brahmanas is foremost even naga sadhus refused to take bath during ardhkumbh bcoz of pollution in ganga river. With due respect to all GBC's,GBC chairman and presidents of ISKCON and other highly respected acharayas and high profile saintly people of maths and other religious institutions they should take greater initiative and responsibility to save our holiest rivers of hindus(Yamuna and Ganga)and prevent this catastrophe of converting them into a sewarage canal. One western devotee from ISKCON has taken initiative and started friends of Vrindavan society, but this movement requires much greater combined effort from ISKCON,other NGOS,local govt. officials municipal councils and water boards.we should not even hesitate to take the help of army to clean the mess up because Yamuna action plan or ganga action plan can only be feasible with the help of people with passion, zeal, commitment to do something for their country and we have seen speed and intentions of these political parties whether it is BJP so called pro-hinduism party or any other party.all those corrupt officials, ministers and govt departments are more poisonous than kaliyaa naag.

cleaning yamuna
by Anant Chandra Verma on Feb 19, 2007 09:14 PM

The only way to actually go about cleaning the river is probably to outsource it to some foreign MNC. It is clear that we ourselves are not capable of it (or alteast we have not shown it for the past 50 years). Let some global company do this. As is done for the DND flyover which is the only decent road to drive on in Delhi. I am sure this is will result in the desired result. Send out a global tender asking international companies to bid and clean it and make it into something like Thames in London with riverside pubs and attractions. I am sure this is definitely worth a try

Ask politicinas to take bath in yamuna & also drink it
by Parthasaradhy Padyala on Feb 18, 2007 12:22 PM

If the politicians bathe in yamuna river and drink yamuna water then both will be clean. These guys take bribes from industrialist and allow them to pollute rather than enforcing strict rules in discarding the waste .They again loot from schemes like cleaning yamuna etc.. Govt should try to grow and have a backbone to face challenges and bravely show the country the path for contribution effort and faitfullness rather than teching corruption.

by SHAM SUNDER on Feb 18, 2007 07:22 AM

In and Around Delhi ..Govt shld bulid sufficient number of toilets and washer men's places and force the people to use them by regular monitoring ...Those who don't follow should be fined or drag to the prision. Industralised who throws the chemcials dirt if should be fined ..or thrown out from the river banks ..No partaility .. MCD should either privatise the recycling the garbage.. Most imp everyone should feel more responsible to deal with it .... if tht is not possible ..reroute the yamuna ..don't let it enter into Delhi city :-)

1 Zabardast Idea- Sellout to the 'Hare-Krishna' ISKCON
by Pavan C. Joshi on Feb 18, 2007 02:30 AM  | Hide replies

Fact is, the govt. should seduce, request even 'pay' ISKCON to revive the holy Yamuna. Danger is-it might work, them what about the netas?

A somewhat public-private partnership exists between the actual Taj Mahal and the Tata's Taj Group of Dhaabas methinks!

What's his Name?
by Pavan C. Joshi on Feb 18, 2007 02:24 AM

Yamuna Action Plan must have it's director, what's his name...I recall another govt. progect called Delhi Metro, and the name that pops up in the mind is Sreedharan, no?

Re. Yamuna Action Plan director, whynot demand full disclosure, transparency...what's Director Saheb's name. Can someone post?

I think Indians have a high consciousness of hygiene. I think unhygienic and dirty conditions have been imposed on them by their 'chosen ones'. Until the average guy, middle class and all, will step up and claim a healthy living standard and not dream of escaping by immigrating to Amerika!, or anywhere...wake up guys...it's not happening!

Only you have to put your house in order. Have you heard of privatisation! Water...like Bisleri water? Nobody's stopping you from privatising water, sewage and waste services but your 'chosen' netas. Any guesses why? Because of the anaeimic, spineless Indian middle class.

I live in Canada and let me tell you this...all our neta's kids, goons' kids and contractors kids go to IInd class colleges here because nowadays they don't get visa for US. Americans are serious, and don't want even the kids of said riff-raff coming over, never mind the lame excuse of 'education'. You should see how above named Indians kids behave themselves here, sad !

Neta-Babu-Contractor ZINDABAD !

Corruption By Officials, Contractor and Pollitician
by Shekhar Rao on Feb 17, 2007 05:44 PM

Billionas of rupees of tax payer has been spend upon cleaning Yamuna in Delhi but situation is getting worse than before. What a waste of money. Why it is hard to understand that its only corruption. All are responsible for this mess right from Govt. officials, private contractors, our filthy politicians and people of the India. Please stop all this non-sense. Need a centralized plan, conscious efforts, involve private sector also, which takes the responsibilities of cleaning the Yamuna not only in Delhi but from the begging to the end with fixed deadlines. If deadlines does not meet then penalty should be there.

While the river stinks, the politicians find it's a nice way to make big bucks..
by Gururaj S on Feb 17, 2007 05:30 PM

All the money has found its way into the pockets of politicians, contractors and other associated white coat criminals.

Its nothing but a big scam. Thats the reason our rivers are cesspools. And politics the domain of scoundrels.

its high we get ruled by sensible and honests
by Vijay Kurhade on Feb 17, 2007 05:07 PM

a very nice system in name of democracy is been created in india, in every damn thing people are cheated on what was promised.

this will only stop when we have rulers(aka netas) who are sensible and honest. its a sad story that since 1947 most of time we have been ruled by motely fools and greedy people who have contributed by every way to this kind of systems.

atleast we should do this for a better india and good lifestyle for our children.
