I dont know why you people are talking about tamil s/w engg..telgu s/w engg??? you people are insane..every IT company has a standard placement methods...they dont make you work in their company just bcos your from TN..first of all TN has a huge number of Engg colleges compared to any other state...and for tat matter many people from AP prefer to study in Engg in TN..are you people jealous in the development of chennai as a IT major?? please have a better view...we are working for the development of our own country...its true many telugu s/w professionals but whats the use if they are goin to work for america instead of working for their own mother land???
are you proud of it??
Mr. da vinci...your fact sucks...you are Intolerant about the growth of your fellow state..respect the development of our country..dont be a racist... if still want to know why chennai rocks and why hydrabad is not in the picture of becomeing an IT major!! take a look at this article http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/mar/14cities.htm

AP, not TN
by Da Vinci on Feb 13, 2007 11:37 AM

For the all the comments made about people from TN to be in the forefront of IT, here are some facts:

* Most of the companies which have come to TN (eg. Nokia), are becoz of the Union IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran who is from TN. He even tried his best to get the $3bn 'Fab City' project there, but it finally went to Hyderabad.
*Majority of the people in the IT industry are Telugus, not Tamilians.
Telugus form 25% (1/4th) of the Indian s/w professionals.
40% of the Indian IT pros in the USA are Telugus. If you think Telugus are relatively less in Bangalore, that is becoz most have migrated to the US.
* 40% of Chennai's population is originally Telugu. Even the word Chennai is formed from the Telugu word 'Chennapatnam'.
* AP has not just the IIIT, ISB, but is soon going to get IIT & BITS.
* Andhra Pradesh is more welcoming to outsiders becoz one is not forced to adapt to the local way of life. In TN, one is forced to learn Tamil.
* Tier-II cities in AP, like Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Warangal, Kakinada will become IT hubs...wait for a while ;)

Develop Tier II Cities.
by ramesh ramesh on Feb 09, 2007 05:55 PM  | Hide replies

Concentrating more on Tier II Cities, will not only end in development of talent, infrastructure etc. in tier ii cities, but also result in reduction of Congestion, pollution, traffic, uncontrollable reality prices etc. Central and State Govts should allocate more funds for development of Tier II cities in TN than in Chennai to have more concentration.

Most of the IT profs who work in Chennai are not from the same city..They are from other places...and a considerable part of their salary is spent on renting houses...developing tier 2 cities will surely reduce unwanted expenditure ...

Good news to Hi-techies of TN.
by TrueIndian on Feb 08, 2007 02:55 PM

This is a sweet news for all the HI-TECHIES of TN.

1.
TN has better infrastructure that suits IT needs.

2.
TN has a vast of pool of Talented resources.

3.
Every year TN produces more number of engineers and doctors than any other state.

So obiviously more number of IT companies has landed in TN and TN government has utilised it.
Today Bangalore based INFOSYS has its largest software development center in Chennai. TCS has its largest development center in chennai. State owned TIDAL park is the largest single IT park in ASIA.

Long back Tamilians occupied IT offices in Bangalore. But in recent years the scenario changed, chennai became another Major IT hub and it ranks no-2 in software exports every year.Hi-Techies of TN settled in chennai.

Today the scenario is totally changed by the present government of TN. In comming years IT people of TN need not goto Chennai for job. They can find a suitable job in II tier cities of TN.

Well done TN government. Hats off to you.

Developing tier 2 cities is a gud thing..but i hope the fruits of IT economy are spread throughout the country especially in north east.the central govt shd work with the state governments of north east to create such an environment..else growth imbalances among various regions of the country may cause upheavels in the growth of the country

The Union IT minister is from TN and as long as he is in power, he will think about TN only.

Just because of Union IT minister, how will the IT companies will queue to TN and invest millions of dollars?.

Do you know the facts ?

1. Since years CHENNAI ranks no-2 in software exports. Mr.Maaran didnt bring this status to TN. It is the IT people of TN who brought this achievement to the state.

2. Today Chennai and TN has become BPO hub.

3. TN has good IT infrastructures.

4. TN produces more number of software engineers than other states.

Software companies are utilising these resources in TN. It is not because of Union IT minister.

Even before Dayanathi maaran also Chennai Ranked no-2 in IT after Bangalore.

Since years Tamilians occupies a special place in IT industry of bangalore. So dont undermine anybody. It is the talented IT resources of TN who brought this revolution in TN.

What the central and state government of india has to do is, Replicate the TN model in all other states.

Dude
That way there are a lot of Telugu ppl in software industry and courtesy Mr.Babu there is good infrastructure in Hyderabad, comparable or better than chennai atleast till couple of years back. Its only after Maran came in that Chennai suddenly became more attractive ;-) Ofcourse, am not undermining Tamil contribution to S/w but as a neutral observer am just saying that your logic is flawed in absolving Mr. Maran. He is just doing 'more' good to his own state and karunanidhi.
