Farmers are trapped with huge intrest rate by money lenders. most of the money lenders are targetting the lands which farmers hold and to snatch the land they make advances and they know that the poor farmers will not be able to repay the huge intrest. in our Nilgiri distict of tamilnadu i know few money lenders whose intention is to torture the farmers after lending money, the worst part of the story is that these money lender are neither registered financiers nor income tax payers althogh they posses assats in crores and crores. the income tax depts also close their eyes and help them to evade taxes

Much has been written about the delivery mechanism on central govt. sponsored programmes relating to poverty alleviation to ensure that the benefits reach the intended masses, but to date nothing has been done on this aspect.
In the forthcoming budget can the Finance Minister take up atleast one such programme on poverty alleviation and set up a mechanism for monitoring the scheme to ensure successful implementation.
I have always felt that the Finance minister must be a successful politician something of the likes of the late Rangarajan Kumaramangalam or even Suresh Prabhu. Their relationship with people who matter cut across paty lines and were very successful in getting the parties to implement schemes the way it was desired to be implemented. One hopes the PM will give this matter a thought. This is no reflection on PC or his performance.
