Walmart is EVIL!
by Rag Has on Dec 10, 2006 05:05 PM  | Hide replies

Wla mart is the epitome of a "evil corporation:, Think of it, they make such huge profits but dont pay their workers anything.

By the way they are not going to bring out any great revolution in india, because they dont have the "chinese cheap goods" advantage as in the US.

Death to Wal mart

please don't be fooled

i was reading all th messages posted on rediff regarding this article. majority of the people from US was aganist 'walmart in india' and people from india was for walmart. when we are in india, we don't know what exactly globalization is all about. US is the one who started it and at the same time suffered becoz of it. and walmart did a significant contribution to it by killing local merchants and killing local manufacturing companies. people actually lost jobs. and about creating jobs in india, that's the most ridiculous thing, walmart is capable of keeping thier shops employee free or run with minimum employees. when i was in india i never knew of these tecnologies. so, lets not get fooled by all those bollywood dialoges. i sincerely hoped that our govt will stop walmart.
and one more question, what's not cheap in india? if things go more cheap, the manufactor sector, raw meterial sector and agriculture sector will have to suicide. we will be actually selling india and indians to china and its profit will turn as late sam walton's family property. hope someone listen to our cry.

Truly Inspiring

Wal-Mart may be a predator for small businesses but its inspiring how Sam Walton single handedly made his company one of the world's richest!

Its better to compete against the best
by bharatwazi on Dec 07, 2006 12:32 PM

I am a wal-mart employee. Instead of fighting wal-mart it would be better to study wal-mart and see how india can produce a brand like wal-mart or microsoft or disney. This is opportunity for indians to get the international exposure and utilize our diversity to create a model that can compete against wal-mart, microsoft or google's of this world. Just creating laws to protect ourselves from competition is sucidial in a global atmosphere. At the end we are like our cricket team.... world-class batsmen on flat pitches....

RE: Hello! -- MNC will drive profit wealth out of India
by Santosh Mane on Dec 06, 2006 02:17 PM

MNC's and foreign players in India will drive profit and money out of India. It's intrusion in india and in indian economy where nothing is being created for Indian. It is one of the methods of exploiting Indians craze for modern life style.

Brands / Trade Marks are creators of wealth and reputation for the Company. Any joint venture by Indian company creates base for foreign company to exploit profits from the economy. Why Can\'t there be technology driven arrangements with MNC\'s? Are Indian Companies so helpless to depend upon foreign companies to set their business in India that too at such irreparable cost? I believe that we should do self-start and explore / exploit the business opportunities accross globe and create wealth for India. Can\'t there be a Indian WALLMART in US? I hope TATA / RELIANCE / Pantaloon can do it? I think we should evade territory of every country by launching our wealth creator tools ie. trademarks. Follow our Great Mahatma Gandhi and his SWADESHI PRINCIPLE in positive sense and explore the world. Do not exploit India and do not let it to be exploited by others countries. INDIA & INDIAN\'s are great. VANDE MAATRAM !

Welcome Walmart
by Mallaiah Anchoori on Dec 06, 2006 02:58 AM

Walmart is a role model for all the business people-especially retailers.I am extremely happy with their customer policies and customer service.Shopping at Walmart is certainly a pleasure and you donot feel as if you are buying some thing, but will be excited to look at the products as if you are in a fair with variety and vividity of products. Its rates are undoubtedly competetive and worth emulation by those who wish to squeeze customers.Maintaining the quality at the most competetive price by Walmart is really an amazing and praiseworthy feature. When Walmart could do and still keep their margin, there is no reason as to why others should not follow the suit.

Small Business Retailers Will Compete Wallmart
by Darpan Dalal on Dec 04, 2006 08:31 PM  | Hide replies

No matter How Big The Company Is No Matter how they have achieved sucess in other counteries but wallmart will nt achieve sucess in india because the small shops in india provide best of services to us they provide us with the best of personal services and they provide credidablity also can walmart provide creditablity and 70% of people live below poverty line in india and a person who enters in to such huge stores must have his pocket fully loaded. So its not possible and people here dnt have the habit stocking goods and the weather also does not support this.
Instead of this the goverment should provide subsidaries to small companies and provide them with full support and if you peoples say that wallmart will suceed then where will these small businessman go and if the local grain shop is closed so evry time when something is insufficient at my place so i may have to travel to the nearby SO CALLED RETAIL STORE which may be too far away from my place and the current retails stores are so that might be the basic problem i am a pure communist and i dont support such kind of MNC or ANY indian activities because such huge MNC's Kills the feeling of enterprenaurship among young peoples

With due respect to your knowledge, Wal mart I am sure will sell things cheaper than individual shops. Believe me they can, they can control cost prices by negotitating eith producers!

You cannot stop the MNC's from what they want
by Arun K Mandal on Dec 01, 2006 12:40 PM

Has US been able to stop Microsoft and HP from outsourcing jobs to India and China? Walmart is a giant, and so is Reliance. And nobody is unaware of Reliance's ill-ways of earning money, by whichever way they can. That is why, today Tata is the most respected company in India and not reliance.

But going by past record, Reliance will make it big, and will be another huge success story, and 'We the paople' will be a part of the crowd thronging their retail stores.
