Its very easy to make your own USB booting drive, you require a perfect USB Geometry and a Live Linux Cd iso. You get lots of tutorial on the net to make your own USB drive bootable. "Damn small linux"(DSL) is one of them, it supports CD writing and net surfing too and can retrive your data in case your computer crashes. I have a 256 mb stick in which 50 mb is linux and in the rest i can store Data.
