Next Gen INDIA
by Ankit Pahwa on Jul 31, 2006 08:33 PM

I believe every INDIAN has the power to make a whole new INDIA, a better INDIA all by itself, this can be appropriately justified by the fact that I see many INDIANs doing extremly great things around me. But they are not doing it for INDIA, they are doing it for the developed countries (USA, UK etc.). Providing them with enough faith in the motherland will surely accelerate the process of making the most prosperous society in the world.

Sri Chidambaram's littany to Indian Enterprise...
by Dharmendra Goel on Jul 31, 2006 10:54 AM

PKL. Monday, 31st July ,2006.
Well one can largely share the hope and great vision that Sri Chidambaramji expressed in his own passionate tribute to Sri NarayanMurthy and his great Infosys Saga over a quarter of century.
One wishes that India gets increasingly more inclusive in this Knowledge allegory. Imean the vast army of shirtless poor ,Dalits, illiterates, tribals ,
Minorities are also given if not the very same opportunities as the few well-heeled products of IITs /IIMS ,AIIMS ,TIFR, IIS and leading Universities of contemporary India in the countryside , towns and backward regions of our very unequal social Reality as yet. India shall turn the wheel of prosperity and power and arrival when the
Harijan Girl , tribal and landless unemolyed farm -labourer's kids shall be able to realize their inborn capabilities, as workmen, technicians , Scientists,or Warriors. No government has so far done on that domain or done very minuscule compared to the gigantic task that the Indian Society need face soonest.D.Goel

'Sate must allow enterprise'
by labrea on Jul 31, 2006 06:07 AM

Finally govt, in the person of the FM, has confessed that it's the people who are the engines of growth in the nation and not the state - the state must act as an enabler, a facilitator, to give support to allow the genius of its people to sprout and blossom, and create prosperity and betterment for all. It's high time govt stopped being "Sarkar the maa-baap" and start being just plain ole "Sarkar the facilitator - the benevolent overseer", and concentrate on the business of governance and leave the business of business to the people whose business is business. In Real Estate business, there's the notion of' highest and best use' of a property. So too the highest and bests use of govt resources is effective governence, not business.

State must allow enterprise
by S.Dipak on Jul 31, 2006 06:03 AM

It seems extremely wasteful that the brightest civil engineer, or a chemical engineer or a mechnical engineer after studying for 4 years to become an engineer wants to join the legions of software programmers/ or become a management professional.

The country is thus losing valuable human resources to the software industry, which is at globally competitive, but it seems really unfortunate when you consider the massive deposits of Ilemnite and Rutile in the bach sands in India but we do not produce any substantial quantity of Titanium, we have substantial deposits of Niobium and Vanadium but these are classified as strategic minerals and the Government has monopoly over their extraction.

It is essential that the state rescind such legislations and allow for utilization of the human resource potential as well as the natural resource potential.
