How to treat coloured people
by PhillipPinto on Jul 29, 2006 03:29 PM

This discrimination does not surprise me one bit. But here is the twist. What if an Indian holds a foreign passport? The colour of the skin is the same, only the paper is different. Double Standards?

I have noticed such discimination when I travel out of Perth to India. At Singapore, Indians have to walk a different isle or counter from others, loosely termed,'foreigners.

I agree, apples for apples - give the ghoras the same treatment when transiting through India.

about politics every one know what's going on than why we can't take any step against them.
India me abi bhi eatane lok hai ki they are supporting them and they doing everything for them.
2 lok dhamka te hai our 20 lok dar ja tai hai.

So we need to come together to build nation.we wan't to see india as a devloped country.

Treatment of Coloured People.
by Dayakar Shetty on Jul 29, 2006 03:18 PM

I agree with Mr.T.C.A. Srinivasa-Raghavan.. I believe every Indian goes through such practices of different countries, which are made only for Coloured people Time has come, that India must.... and I repeat must have this sort of reciprocal arranagements to treat all those nationals, the same way they treat Indians.... We are no less than these nationalities in all respects.... so why this discrimination.....? Indian Government.... Administration.... Politicians... are you listening ?

Have broad shoulders
by traveller on Jul 29, 2006 02:51 PM

I have travelled around the world for the last 30 years. What you say used to hurt me earlier. But you cannot help, lump it, have broad shoulders . Countries are rated according to potential threat for immigration. Most developed countries are careful when it comes to immigration/visa from potentially underdeveoped countries having quite different culture. Only way to overcome this is to develop your own country, which will automatically take away this bias. Learn from Japan.

France does it too!
by Anand on Jul 29, 2006 02:41 PM

The last time I checked, France also requires the so-called airside transit visa for using the toilets at the CDG airport.

Of course, one is exempted if there is a valid schengen, UK, or US visa in his/her passport.

You know what, all this is because of a screwed up airline called Air India that doesn't offer safe, punctual, and decent non stop/hassle free single stop connectivity to the US and other destinations in Europe, and hence forcing Indians to take British Airways and Air France and go through transit hassles. Moreover, for Air India, Mumbai and Delhi are the only 'cities'. While Singapore Air could operate services to such destinations as Amritsar and Ahmedabad, and Lufthansa could offer direct connectivity to FRA from MAA and BLR, what prevents Air India from offering direct connectivity from South Indian cities to Europe/US ?

How to treat coloured people

I fully agree with the author. apathy of our top politicians / officials in responding to the discriminatory behaviour by West results in continuation of discrimination. Our PM needs to act.
