Will the authors, or other knowledgeable persons on GPS based Vehicle Management Systems, please give some information on the good vendors: Indian and others. Also, what is the present and expected size of the Indian market?

Wonderful

Very good and informative article. But it seems to be a year ahead of time. Most of these things will require about a couple of years to popularize as much as iPODs right now.
What say ?

Why is tech only IT?
by Jyothi on Jan 11, 2006 03:54 PM

Hi,
How come ALL the top tech trends are Information Technology? Does nothing else happen in India? How about agricultural productivity, research into new vaccinations, water harvesting & supply, space technology, weather forecasting, textile manufacturing etc. etc.? Is there nothing happening in the areas of power and transport, two vital aspects of our infrastructure where failure could have a domino effect on the rest of the economy?

This mindset is dangerous. IT & communications are one part of life & the economy, and do enable many other activities - but what solution did the IT czars in Bangalore have for the recent floods? Can a hungry baby eat a cellphone? Can a cellphone work forever without having to be plugged in at least once in a while?

To paraphrase Hamlet - There is more in heaven and on earth, than are dreamt of in your projections

Sorry I am lost

Is this article for Indian readers?? I am not really sure. We don't have
decent quality DVD players for consumers and we are talking of Blu-
Ray and HD-DVD but I feel this battle is more like VCD and Betamax
in 1980s which lasted for about a decade so look forward for blu-ray
and HD-DVD combo in place of VHS and DVD combo, industrial
stupidity may be but ONLY one will prevail, so down the line in
decade you will know you were fooled to pay for one format which is
obsolete now.
Wi-Fi cloud, don't make me laugh till death, consumers right in
Mumbai and vicinity are struggling here to get 256kbps internet line
and what the heck is this Wi-Fi?
For other things, yeah they are within our reach but for these,
probably we are going expecting someone to walk steep curve!!
