B-school graduates don't like risks
by Narayan KBV on Mar 14, 2011 04:15 PM

That's a great idea when Mr Baligee said >> "They should be encouraged to take up projects that will help them develop and hone their entrepreneurial skills". Now that it's five years since this has been broached, has this been taken note of by any of the B-Schools? OR is it a deja-vu of the B-School-guardians feeling "if it is such a good idea it would have occurred to one of us".

Its so easy to say B-schools dont do this and dont do that especially since you yourself are from one of the premier B schools !
Pathetic article for an IIM-A alumi ! So I do know one thing that B-school does not teach - how to write a good, informative article.
So what was the purpose of your article? To discourage us from applying to B-Schools? Or to encourage us to become entrpreneurs?

B-School grads don't take risks

It is true that they take less "risks".It is not because they do not understand the unions or the Government officials (wonder if there is any class or group who can grasp truth as well as the top B-School grads) but because of the values they have inherited from their "non-business family backgrounds".Please note that for most of them what you call as "risk" is downright immoral and often illegal to boot. So,take your pick.

Quality of Article
by Schwann on Jan 11, 2006 02:23 AM  | Hide replies

This is the poorest article I have ever seen on Rediff. Looks like some actually collected a bunch of statements and put them together. There is no semblance of any argument and the title itself passes judgements on all B-schoolers in India. I expected better quality of journalism from Rediff.

It is the media.

Media, most of it, try, mostly most inadequately, to sum up an article in just one sentnence, the title.

Such a cryptic title is often a far cry from the central viewpoint of the original writer.

But the media has to be like that only.

Sensational !!!

Conclusive.

Misleading.

Often insulting.

They love sensational headlines and in doing so they often overdo it.

U cant expect rediff to be an exception.

Risk-taking is in the DNA.
by chanakya on Jan 10, 2006 12:31 PM

B schools are the best places perhaps for the history of business and industry.

It is usually the raw talent in the DNA that takes the risks - sometimes enormous - usually yielding enormous rewards to the entrepreneuer.

Such elements in the DNA are normally free from all kinds of shackles - social, political and economical.

They are a rare species though.

They have the ability to envision the enormity of the outcome even before a project takes off.

The so-called citadels of the humanity have to salute them.

Not only they are much above average.

They are above everything.

Yet they want nothing.

They want only the achievements, a new one with every sunrise !
