If you want to make IIMA another "Govt Schoolcollege", please go ahead and use Prof Gupta's idea. IIM is an environment, an ambiance it is not a public place where you can afford to have additional 500 people with the same infrastructure. If that was the case then why did not you have it earlier? Also, look at the statement below:

The system for offering married accommodation for one-year programme on campuses, particularly when IIMs practice a 'pressure cooker' approach of teaching. He says two students can easily be put in newly-built apartments accommodating additional 100 participants.

My question is why Two students? Why not three or four students?
I guess my dear prof forgot to think in other direction that one year program (PGPX) has been developed by keeping the experience of the candidate in mind. The boys selected for IIMs are generally from IITs or PG s from colleges etc. It is wellknown that the knowledge collected at IIM s is useful
perhaps 20 % only while his brain gets trained in the course of experience after he is on the job, besides his brains also picks up to political tunes in an organisation. So if you draw a balance sheet his learning(the retained 80%) which remained with him in his brain becomes trash if he retains his job for an year or two, except the outlines sticking in his mind.
Besides, the knowledge collected at IITs when he joined IIM becomes trash during his IIM study.
Are we going in the right direction ?
I am a layman. Perhaps some IIM faculty can speak on it ti justify their selections and recruitment

The truth about IIM-A and quotas

A faculty's view point cannot be taken as the "truth". The caption is misleading the public and other IIM aspirants.

All along we all know that "truth", perfection, etc are only in the dictionary.
