The top management of SBI needs to be toppled first.

"Both Bhattacharya and bank's chairman AK Purwar have appealed to the employees to end the strike." Quote.

From the day Indira nationalized the banks for a dubious political purpose, all the employees felt, and that culture still continues till today, and may continue indefinitely unless drastic measures are resorted, that they have inherited the banks from their ancestors.

Both Bhattacharya as well as Purwar should be removed promptly.

It is they who have been soft-pedalling and perhaps even sympathizing.

Remove them first.

And then fix a deadline for the strikers to get back to work.

Those who fail must be dismissed and replaced immediately.

From a management point of view this Bank could very well be compared with the classical example of AirIndia and Indian Airlines which Praful seems to be bent on merging. Once merger takes place, it has to be sold to the highest bidder.

Here, too, in the case of SBI, some shock-treatment is absolutely necessary.

Auction the bank off.
