Stay away from Infosys Mangalore
by balebair on Sep 26, 2010 03:40 PM

Mangalore is one of the worst place to live and settle down. The living standard and cost of living is same as all metros like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad etc. with none of the amenities. I did the biggest mistake of my life by accepting an employment with Infosys Mangalore. Their office is 25 kms outside the city in some "dark-age" village. There are no amenities next to the new Infosys office in this village - no schools, colleges, hospitals, malls, jobs for your better-halves. So, the only option is to stay in the city, a small and congested place 5 km in radius. This has resulted in cost of living being jacked up by the locals in the city. Helplessness of outsiders is a major source of livelihood for these locals. They charge heavily for everything - house rent, rickshaw, school donations etc. With limited supply available of these rental flats and school seats, the outsiders are forced to accept these demands and pay heavily through their nose. Add to this, the roads to the new office is so pathetically maintained that it takes more than 1.5 hrs each way to travel to office. If you ask the Infosys management why they have opened offices in such god forsaken places, the reply we get is that karnataka government has given land at throw away prices.
My recommendation - STAY AWAY FROM MANGALORE INFOSYS

A question to Mr Murthy
by Sunil on Feb 28, 2006 09:12 PM  | Hide replies

Everything fine about Murthy's report and we all know Dev Gowda is a crap politician and his comments are worthless.

But I have one simple question to Infy boss, with so much of employment created in Karnataka can he also publish how many kannadigas work in Infosys, I am sure the figures will be heart breaking for many.

Dear Sunil, you should not expect any kind of reservation for kanadigas. Who ever has talent should come up. Karnataka is getting a huge revenue fron this company and a brand place..

Handle Professionally
by S.Rajappa on Nov 16, 2005 07:17 PM

Create A Win Win Situation
I think its time we give credit to the IT Czars and also teh Politicians who have supported them in building Karnataka into A Silicon Valley in India.I must highlight that Mr.Murthy has handled so many professionals, met so many other politicians around the globe and he needs to understand the sentiments of these people and handle more effectively so that a win win situation is created .No point of trying to prove a point as it takes you no where. He is a master of team work..but surprisingly he is unable to take gowda with him inspite of is success professionally.Handling ethicaly is important but having human touch is like icing on the cake.I think each of them should not spend time in finding what went wrong rather than applauding what is happening right.
Cheer Up Mr.Murthy and Mr.Gowda.
Together we win..no loosers.

Gowda Vs Murthy!!! Asking questions is always right!!!
by LG on Oct 28, 2005 10:17 PM

I am a Bangalorean presently living in the US. I was amazed by the interest this subject generated!!! In contrast I read another articles written on rediff about downplaying of India's relief efforts in J and K, also about the terrorists making use of this situation and the blatant arrogance displayed by Pakistan and it's Rulers in dictating and demanding the terms by which India should give them help. The response to these articles was a trickle compared to the deluge i see presently.
The point is IT IS NOT A CRIME TO QUESTION THE MODALITIES OF GOVERNMENT ALLOTMENT BY ANYBODY. Mr.Gowda is probably doing what every citizen should do. I am sure that there is a political point that he is trying to score, but one should not forget that the world bank in it's progress report had given adismal performance record to the outgoing Government about corruption and Infosys was the biggest beneficiary of the government support among IT Companies. There is old saying that 'There is no smoke without fire'. So we should look for the fire.
There was no reason for Mr.Murthy to resign if he did make contributions to BIAL. Is there a component of guilt associated.
Jai Hind

Gowda is right

Well Infosys is not the only IT company in bangalore.
There are many other big IT companies like WIpro, accenture, Digital etc. The fact is that how much of jobs have these IT companies contributed to the kannadigas? What is important is that it is the development of the bangalore and kannadigas in bangalore that should be of utmost concern not just IT companies. We have other areas like agriculture, sericulture, irrigation, prevention of poverty, providing better roads, transportation facilities to concentrate about.

infy vs gowda
by ajay on Oct 28, 2005 03:21 AM

hey! hey! look who is talking. These politicians are good for nothing. Mr Gowda should act sensibly and constrain from making comments as if he is talking in an election rally at Hassan or Chikmagloor !
