The word " Dying City" is a metaphor to the glory and heritage of Kolkata.
Kolkata is the city of joy and in terms of its incarnation, it has already marched forward. It's core competence is in its intellect and cultural richness, which is superior in the nation.
Together lets take the oath to make Kolkata a better place in all aspeects.
If only the numerous political parties would stop bikering, join hands, seek some pride in rejuvenating this wonderful city, can something be done. Here the general feeling is if you take out a procession, block roads, inconvenience people, throw the whole city out of gear, then the city improves ??!! Prices come down. America stops its imperialistic advances. To tell the truth really stupid and enrealistic thinking. Stop taking out processions, start working. Stop fooling the uneducated masses. Start educating them. Start taking pride in how your city looks, functions and is portrayed to the rest of the world. Today what rest of India does today, Bengal does after years, not tomorrow. Previously it was - What Bengal thinks today, Rest of India thinks tomorrow !!! Let those days return. The present government is giving it a pretty good shot, to bring the past glory back.
Calcutta was established in 1690 and not in 1870. And Inever think it is adying city. I am not too sure how can a city whose people of all socio - economic classes always remain in a jubilant and sympathetic mood can be called a dying city.
