Piracy

I think there is no solution to piracy except to reduce the prices of software. Why should genuine software be prohibitively costly? With the increase in the number of users, they should try to recover the cost of software development over a large customer base and not a smaller one. If genuine Windows Xp is available for 200/- why will anyone go for pirated? If today it costs 3500/- and only 1 of 100 uses genuine, if the price is brought down to say 200/- or 250/- definitely 90 of 100 will use genuine. Think who stands to gain.
I for one paid 3500/- and bought genuine windows xp and what do I get? only a CD? can't they even give a manual for the amount they take? And the packing ? just a paper wrapping? how do I preserve the original cd?

Pirated Softwares
by Rajeev Yadav on Nov 02, 2005 08:01 PM

Hi Friends,

Why has there been increased use of Pirated Softwares ? Company talks BIG but they never think about poor people. In todays world of IT age, when Computer is yous basic need, no one cares how to help selling legal softwares.

Microsoft may loose X Billion dollars per year, but if it provides cheap OS and other tools for example a Windows XP costs Rs 5000/- can't this be solded at price of Rs .500/- to students, Rs 1000/- to home users, and Rs 5000/- to small buissness organisation, and for corporates at usual price, this way see how people uses legal softwares. No one thinks in that way.

Everyone says we loose this much we loose that much, waste no use, the only way to stop piracy is make it more affordable where if one buys a PC for 12K he can add some 500 ruppes to buy legal software and that understandable.

Think Think ....1000 times,

STOP PIRACY with giving cheap affordable qality product. See how much you can gain. And don't reduce the features when price falls.

These giants conveniently omit to say that overpricing is the basic reason for piracy and people go for pirated products because the originals are very high in price and not affordable.
