This has to be one of the best articles I have read in a long time. When people like Dr. Mashelkar speak, the world listens. Not because we are forced to, not because of advertising or false pretences, but because he speaks simply, and makes eminent sense.
I have had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Mashelkar speak in person, when he came to deliver a lecture at my university (the National Law University). He spoke to us of his ideas, and gave us some examples from his rich and varied experience. We have had many illustrious speakers lecture us, but Dr. Mashelkar's lecture was one that I shall never forget.
He came across as a brilliant, passionate, yet extremely humble man. He was able to talk to young students, who have absolutely no idea of the level of science he works at, and who have a dim view of government service in general, and make us feel that we have a duty to work. Not simply to work, but to work to the best of our potential, and beyond! To push ourselves beyond our wildest imaginations, to go one when all seems dark and dull. To look beyond a fat pay packet and feel the satisfaction of a job well done, no matter what the reward.
great job by mr.Raghunath , india need people like him who are this strong , and great job by rediff too without this article we wont have known that this kind of people work in india government agencies.
What an article!See, people like these are the role models for todays students $ enterpreneurs in making. It clearly shows that to suceed, you should be not only good in technical or business practices, but one should have the basic work ethics.Dr.Raghunathan treats his collegues and subordinates with respect and dignity, while still believing that he is not above anybody. the words he says 'we are just servants, serving india' makes him 1 of the truly greats in contemporary india
