Definitely !
by Mohit Motwani on Dec 14, 2005 11:52 PM

Addressed to Mr. Arindam Mukherjee, I would like to say that though what he may say is true, I would also like to point out that infrastructure is definitely improving, and has since the past few years. I would request you not to be so cynical, believe in ourselves. Not doing so can be the biggest threat. Please don't take this personally. We all sure hope that India becomes an economic superpower, not only in chips, but overall. I'm sure you do too. Don't lose heart. Be positive. It will happen. JAI HIND !

India will become a chip hub within 5 yrs. Abundant talent pool. In future any political parties will come, no problem for the industrial future of india.
Most of the equipment and process engineers who are ignitions for a chip industry are indians mainly working in singapore, malaysia, honk kong high tech fabs.

To say that all projects are going to TN because of Maran and Chidambaram is not understanding the conducive investment climate that a well governed state like Tamil Nadu provides. However one may push them, these multinational companies will only invest in states that offer good governance and where the labour situation is good. The problem with UP is that it has not only produced many PMs but also keeps producing many children...they should first put aside their caste and communal politics and control population growth and they can they dream of development.

Why is this sudden spurt in taking all the plants to Tamil Nadu ?
by S P Singh on Dec 14, 2005 09:16 PM

Sir,
Ever since the UPA govt has come to power all new ventures be it BMW assembly plant, chip making plant etc these new investments are being dragged to T N just because FM and IT Minister come from TN. The way these projects are going down south it looks as though other states like UP, Punjab,Bihar, and MP are not a part of the Indian union. This bias has been there ever since the days of Nehru and the worst sufferers are these states particularly UP for its fault has been that it has contributed one after another so many Prime Ministers who have only done lip sympathy to U P merely to seek to protect their own chair while other ministers under their nose have often dragged all big projects to TN, AP, Karnataka and Maharashtra. It is time the UPA wakes up to the ground realities and correct imbalance in industrial development of all other states also which have suffered ever since independence.

by aditya tikku on Dec 14, 2005 07:23 PM

India has very good chance to be a chip giant, but its too early for celebrations. And by a current circumstances of our infrastructure it sounds obsequiousness only.
