You are absolutely correct. Merit = Skills, capabilities and competencies...

Therefore???

What do you think? A private co. of which the sole objective is value maximisation, does it not know this fact? They are selecting the right candidates for their posts..If there is more merit in say "X" category, they will pick up more "X"people..

No Govt has to force them to pick them up....

Dear Jags,

This is indeed a great thought. I support your views wholeheartedly. In our country, people against affirmative action are using MERIT as a weapon to tackle this problem. This could be an eye opener for all of them.

Dear Companies are intelligent enough and if people were bright enough they would have made it by then. You give them reservation in education, why more

Actually reservations are the reason why country is in this plight. Stupids take up government job and make governance crap that it is in. Give governance only to those who deserve it and India will shine
